Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Congdon School of Supply Chain, Business Analytics and Information Systems at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Cameron School of Business, invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Information Systems to begin August 2026. This is a full-time tenure-track position with a focus on Information Systems.

The regular teaching load in the Cameron School of Business is five sections combined in the fall and spring semesters for research-active faculty members. Summer support is available for two years for new hires, followed by a competitive summer grant program. Faculty members are expected to engage in service activities on campus as well as in academic and professional outreach, as outlined in the CSB and UNCW workload policies. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Information Systems or a related field. NOTE: Applicants with earned degrees will be given preference. ABD's will be considered; however, PHD must be conferred by August 1, 2026, to be eligible for employment.


    • ABD candidates with a Ph.D. conferred by August 1, 2026, can anticipate an initial appointment as Assistant Professor.
    • Selected candidates with a Ph.D. nearly completed (ABD, not conferred by August 1, 2026) can anticipate an initial appointment as Lecturer at a reduced salary for a one-year fixed-term appointment. Degree verification must be provided before the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, and the candidate will be appointed to the rank of assistant professor with commensurate compensation beginning July 1 of the following academic year.



  • Ability and willingness to teach Introduction to Information Systems and courses in at least one of the following areas of the Information Systems discipline (in order of preference):

    • Network and System Administration
    • IT Strategy and Management
    • Software Development.


  • A record of research that is related to the primary areas of teaching.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Ability and willingness to teach in-person and online courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Ability and willingness to engage with the campus community, including students, faculty, and university administration.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in professional outreach, including engagement with advisory board members and participation in career events.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in academic outreach, including engagement in conferences and academic journal editing.
  • Ability and willingness to teach in more than one of the areas included in the Minimum Education and Experience Requirements listed above.
  • A record of success in grant writing.
  • Practical experience in the IS/IT industry.

The Congdon School of Supply Chain, Business Analytics and Information Systems supports the Bachelor of Science with concentrations in Business Analytics, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, and Supply Chain Management, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. At the graduate level, the School supports the Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Computer Science and Information Systems, Master of Science in Business Analytics, and Master of Science in Supply Chain Management

The Congdon School comprises four areas: Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Information Systems, and Cybersecurity. The current position is in the Information Systems area and will primarily support two undergraduate programs: the Information Systems concentration within the B.Sc. Business Administration degree and the B.Sc. Information Technology degree that is an interdisciplinary major shared by the Congdon School and the Department of Computer Science in the College of Science and Engineering. Any courses with an MIS prefix are administered by the Congdon School and Information Systems faculty and candidates are encouraged to review which courses align best with their interests and experience. Candidates fitting the other units in the Congdon School are not considered.
