BASIC POSITION FUNCTION:


Responsible for supporting, monitoring, and improving the production manufacturing process. The Manufacturing Engineer will be tasked with documenting manufacturing processes, equipment capabilities, capacities, and quality metrics. Utilizing 6-sigma and Lean Manufacturing toolsets, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement to help the company meet key performance metrics. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will assist the site engineering, quality, and production teams with process and product improvements, NPI development, and Quality improvement actions.

3+ years of experience in Technical Manufacturing roles



TYPICAL EDUCATION:


BS Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace)



ESSENTIAL DUTIES/TASKS:



  • Document the current state of production processes including operation specific work instructions, equipment capability and capacity, and value stream mapping.
  • Assist with implementation and continued support of ERP system
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for manufacturing and identify opportunities to positively impact KPIs
  • Familiar with CI tools, concepts and how to apply on product/process subsystems or manufacturing systems


    • Supports optimization of production process, product design using a lean problem-solving methodology, with quantifiable impact to business metrics
    • Assist in developing KPIs to effectively manage process and product outcomes


  • Familiar with project management skills to successfully complete assigned portions of projects; considering technical, budgetary and schedule requirements
  • Willingness to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team environment to support develop component designs and repairs; which meet site, Chromalloy and customer requirements for cost, performance, and durability.
  • Support operational activities to ensure production goals are met.
  • Engage with the other engineers at the site to work on projects and develop solutions impacting site operational and financial performance, utilizing CI tools; positively impacting the end customer
  • Support making technical decisions on assigned portions of product/process design and provide definition to the team to ensure mutual success.
  • Familiar with efforts to Identify, develop and implement tooling/equipment improvements. Participate in troubleshooting process/production problems and implement actions/solutions, monitor sustainability of actions and report out results.
  • Prepare accurate written technical reports, specifications, procedures and manuals
  • Prepare and deliver presentations of work to all levels of external and internal customers
  • Work in a lab and field environments. Occasional travel required.



SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/PROFICIENCIES:



  • Familiar with manufacturing processes
  • 2D and 3D CAD modeling, NX preferred
  • Understanding of various measuring techniques including CMM, white-light/laser scanning, gages, ... etc. and their use in developing designs
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications
  • Knowledge of FAA guidelines for PMA and RS-DER requirements and compliance testing preferred
  • Awareness of program management tools and skill set
  • Thoughtful and effective communications skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
