Job Summary
The Chemical Process Operator is responsible for performing a variety of advanced chemical and mechanical cleaning processes on critical turbine engine components. Using a range of techniques-including acidic and caustic baths, pressurized water, and ultrasonic cleaning-this role ensures the complete removal of coatings and deposits to meet stringent aerospace quality and safety standards. This position requires precision, meticulous adherence to safety protocols, and documentation practices.


Key Responsibilities



  • Chemical Stripping: Execute chemical stripping processes using various acidic and caustic baths to remove specialized coatings from turbine engine components. Manage and monitor chemical concentrations, temperatures, and dwell times to ensure effective and safe material removal.
  • Advanced Component Cleaning: Operate and maintain a range of cleaning equipment, including high-pressure water systems and ultrasonic cleaning tanks, to remove deposits and residue from parts.
  • Detailed Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete process logbooks, shop travelers, and production documentation to ensure traceability and quality assurance throughout the process.
  • Safety and Environmental Compliance: Strictly follow all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and safe chemical handling practices. Adhere to all environmental regulations regarding chemical use, waste disposal, and air quality.


Skills and Qualifications



  • Experience: Proven experience in a chemical processing or industrial cleaning environment, preferably with aerospace or precision components.
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of chemical processes, including the safe handling and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent precision and meticulousness required for inspecting and preparing sensitive components.
  • Quality Orientation: Strong commitment to meeting and exceeding production standards and quality requirements.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot process issues and perform minor equipment maintenance.
  • Physical Dexterity: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, operate machinery, and wear required safety equipment.
  • Documentation Skills: Written communication skills for maintaining logbooks and completing documentation accurately.
  • Safety Mindset: Unwavering commitment to safety protocols and a clean, safe working environment.
