This position is for a full-time Residential Reading Faculty member who will teach both developmental and college-level reading courses. This position requires the use of innovative teaching methods and appropriate technology in the instruction of Reading using various methods of delivery, including collaboration and teaching with other disciplinary faculty. Works with various student populations, including underserved and underrepresented college students. Provides leadership in Reading and Literacy at the departmental, collegiate, and district levels. Essential Functions * Teaches a 5/5 load of Reading (RDG 100 & CRE 101) courses with at least 3 hybrid/2 online or 4 hybrid/1 online courses a semester and adheres to the Standards of Residency (teaching, professional development, service) including but not limited to those listed below:
* Works collaboratively with colleagues on general education assessment, strategic planning, program review, and creative problem-solving within the division, college, and district, including but not limited to participating in campus and/or district initiatives, committees, and task forces. * Contributes to meaningful student engagement and success through an understanding of the barriers facing underrepresented and underprepared populations in higher education. * Uses instructional technologies across a variety of modalities. * Incorporates integrated learning techniques and high-impact practices. * Provides mentorship/leadership with adjunct and dual enrollment faculty and conducts observations and/or supervisory duties. * Engages in continuous professional development and appropriately integrates new developments in Literacy Education, Integrated Reading and Writing, and theories and practices of Reading and Literacy Studies. * Other duties as assigned. Master's or above in Reading, Literacy Education, English Education, Literacy Studies, Language & Literacy, TESOL, or a related field. 2. Experience teaching developmental reading, critical reading, integrative reading and writing, and possibly other reading in the discipline courses. 3. Evidence of ability to effectively apply current theories and best practices to inform teaching, learning, and collaborative curriculum development. 4. Evidence of effective teaching in a variety of modalities, including LMS organization and development. 5. Evidence of commitment to culturally responsive pedagogies and experience developing curriculum and adapting classroom practices for various populations, including those with an emphasis on Hispanic-Serving Institutions and indigenous populations. 6. Evidence of ability to implement integrative learning and/or interdisciplinary approaches to literacy for student engagement and success. 7. Incorporation of AAC&U High-Impact Practices and other CGCC initiatives, such as learning communities, service learning, ePortfolios, reading in the disciplines, and/or integrated reading and writing into teaching and curriculum design. AAC&U's High-Impact Practices Special Working Conditions May be required to instruct at multiple sites and/or assigned to teach days, evening, weekends, or alternative schedule classes. May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
