About the Position As a Temporary Special Elections Board worker, you will facilitate the election process by traveling and providing in-person and remote professional and non-partisan services. You will assist voters who are disabled or confined to their personal residence or assisted living facility. About Us The Maricopa County Recorder's Office (MCRO) is responsible for maintaining the Maricopa County voter registration records and for administering elections in partnership with the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The MCRO also maintains the permanent public record of over 50 million documents dating back to 1871, including deeds, plat maps, and a variety of other important documents. Our office serves over 2.5 million registered voters as well as 4.4 million residents across Maricopa County. We Require This position requires a High School diploma or GED. Other Requirements
- Must be a registered voter, or have the ability to become a registered voter, in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
- Must pass an applicable background screening
- Must have an unrestricted AZ driver's license by the time of hire
- Must have current personal auto insurance, vehicle registration, and a reliable vehicle in good working order
- Must complete Maricopa County's Defensive Driving Course upon hire
- Must be able to work overtime as necessary

Job Contributions
- Provides in-person and remote professional, non-partisan services to assist voters who are disabled or confined to their personal residence or assisted living facility
- Responsible for calling, scheduling, and recording facility visits throughout Maricopa County
- Works on a bipartisan board to travel daily throughout Maricopa County
- Reads and marks ballots as directed by the voter in a non-partisan manner
- Performs a high volume of voter research using Election software and computer hardware
- Assists other Election Department divisions (Signature Verification, Curing, and UOCAVA) with their daily functions and activities as needed
Working Conditions
- Full-time/Temporary/Holiday/Overtime hours are mandatory during an election cycle, and especially closer to election day
- In a bipartisan team, you will be required to visit multiple facilities or residences throughout Maricopa County, utilizing personal vehicles (Mileage reimbursement is available for personal vehicles used during shift)
- This position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and/or temporarily sit or stand outside a facility (awaiting voters) in all weather conditions
- Requires upper extremity repetitive motion, the ability to review small font on hard copy or computer screen, the ability to lift 20 pounds floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist, and carry these items up to 100 feet
- Ability to push/pull 20 pounds for up to 200 feet
- Must not engage in any political discussions
- You must abide by facility/homeowner requirements regarding the health and safety of residents (using masks, temperature checks, etc.)
- Requires the use of proprietary software for the Elections Department, a mobile phone, and the Microsoft Office Suite software
