About the Position As a Temporary Signature Verification Clerk or Temporary Flagging Clerk, you will assist in facilitating the election process by performing data entry, research, verifying signatures, and contacting voters. As a Curing Clerk, you will use proprietary software to view signature files and verify voter signatures. You will outreach to voters to verify information and explain the curing process. Please see the specific tasks for each position listed below, as there are three positions available to consider. These are temporary assignments with Maricopa County that support the department before, during, and after the election cycle. The placement and assignment of each temporary election worker is based on department needs as well as the applicant's skill set and capabilities. About Us The Maricopa County Recorder's Office (MCRO) is responsible for maintaining the Maricopa County voter registration records and for administering elections in partnership with the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The MCRO also maintains the permanent public record of over 50 million documents dating back to 1871, including deeds, plat maps, and a variety of other important documents. Our office serves over 2.5 million registered voters as well as 4.4 million residents across Maricopa County. We Require
- Experience in data entry from a document to a database
- Experience in keyboard and desktop navigation
- Must be able to type a minimum of 35 words per minute (WPM) with accuracy
- Experience in researching and gathering information
- Requires a High School diploma or GED
Other Requirements
- Must be registered, or eligible to register, to vote in Arizona by the time of hire
- Must be able to pass applicable background screening
- Must be able to work the full work assignment, extensive irregular hours, and shifts based on the department's needs
- Must have a valid AZ driver's license by the time of hire

Job Contributions Signature Verification Clerk
- Utilizes Election software to verify and compare voter signatures on affidavit envelopes with records
- Analyzes signatures and performs other research, such as contacting voters directly to ensure the efficacy of mail-in ballot processing
Flagging Clerk
- Conducts research, adds, or removes voters' information from the Active Early Voting List and flags voters for ballots
- Data entry of voter information utilizing Election software
Curing Clerk
- Utilizes proprietary Election software to view signature files and verify voter signatures on affidavit envelopes
- Outreach to voters primarily via telephone to verify identity on Early Voting affidavit envelopes and explain simple processes
- Performs a large volume of phone calls to assist voters and provide conflict resolution
- Performs general office duties, including data entry, email communications to voters, mail sorting, filing, and other duties as needed
- Provides professional, non-partisan customer service to voters
Working Conditions
- Full-time/Temporary/Overtime hours are mandatory during the election cycle
- Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Requires upper extremity repetitive motion
- Requires the ability to review small font on hard copy or computer screen, as well as the ability to view a computer screen for an extended period
- Requires the ability to lift floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist a minimum of 25 pounds and carry for 100 feet, as well as the ability to push/pull a minimum of up to 10 pounds for 200 feet
