The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is seeking a new Medical Director, Urgent Care & Healthline to join the UW Health Urgent Care. The Medical Director, in partnership with the Urgent Care APP Supervisor and the managers of Urgent Care and Healthline is responsible for all day-to-day clinical operations of the UW Health Urgent Care Clinics and physician oversight of UW Health Healthline.

The expectation of UW Health Medical Directors is to provide leadership to their program/area(s) that results in the consistent and successful delivery of Remarkable Healthcare that is high quality, cost efficient, and delivered in a way that is highly satisfying for patients, providers, and staff. Medical Directors are expected to develop and demonstrate all UW Health Leadership Competencies and lead within their program/area(s) using the UW Health Way.


  • This position is full time. 40% Physician Leadership responsibility plus 40% - 60% clinical practice time in Urgent Care for a total of 80% - 100% FTE.

  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.

  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles: Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) at the University of Wisconsin is a leading clinical department within the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH). DFMCH is dedicated to advancing patient care, education, and research. Our 18 clinics provides primary care to over 175,000 patients yielding over 374,000 patient visits annually, and we train more than 150 residents and 300 medical students each year. Compensation:

Negotiable, 12 month

Required Qualifications:

  • WI medial license, or eligible for license by start date of position.

  • Board-certified or board eligible by American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) by start date of position.

  • Completion of a Family Medicine residency by the start date of the position.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of progressively responsible experience as a practicing physician.

  • Leadership experience related to programmatic, departmental, physician, or medical staff administration

  • For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.


Education:

MD or DO, or equivalent required.
