SALARY RANGE:

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and results-oriented Deputy Field Program Manager to assist the Program Manager in overseeing all field operations and contract personnel supporting a large-scale, nationwide program. This role is essential to ensuring consistent, high-quality performance across all operational sites and will serve as the acting Program Manager during their absence.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong background in program and personnel management-particularly in operational environments comparable in size and complexity to those found in the aviation or transportation sectors. This position requires travel across the United States to support field activities and engage with key stakeholders.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing programs or organizations of similar scope and complexity.
    • Prior management experience within an Air Traffic Control facility or in a comparable operational environment is required.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field from an accredited institution.
    • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, at least 15 years of relevant management experience is required.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, especially in geographically dispersed settings.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proven experience in managing field operations and supporting program-level governance and performance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Experience supporting federal contracts or public-sector programs.
  • Familiarity with aviation or transportation operations.
  • Understanding of contract compliance, operational risk, and field-based service delivery models.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Program Manager in leading, coordinating, and supporting all field-based contract personnel.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and performance across multiple geographically distributed sites.
  • Assume full Program Manager responsibilities when the Program Manager is unavailable.
  • Support stakeholder communications and ensure alignment with program goals and service standards.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with contract requirements, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
  • Identify and help mitigate risks, resolve issues, and ensure consistent service delivery across all locations.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, training, and performance management of field personnel.
