Overview

Rapiscan Systems, designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles, and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs, and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection equipment can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations, and nuclear facilities.

We are currently seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join our fast-paced customer and quality focused team.

The candidate for this position will be based in the Louisville, KY area, supporting Rapiscan's sites in Louisville, KY and surrounding areas.

Field Service Technicians have the primary responsibility of ensuring the users of Rapiscan's equipment are satisfied with its performance by providing exemplary customer-focused support. This individual must demonstrate strong electronic, electrical and mechanical assemble repair supporting maintenance, installations, troubleshooting, diagnostic and repair of Rapiscan's x-ray equipment.


Responsibilities

  • Installation and Maintenance: Install, repair, and maintain electrical/mechanical and electronic equipment at customer locations.
  • Customer Support: Provide troubleshooting, diagnostic, repair, and maintenance support with a goal of total customer satisfaction.
  • Customer Management: Achieve contractual requirements for metrics and information reporting. Communication equipment status and resolve customer issues onsite.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency and non-scheduled calls for service daily within established response time goals.
  • Scheduled Maintenance: Complete scheduled maintenance within required deadlines.
  • Documentation: Document all maintenance and repair activities with detailed reports and submit the documentation within the required time frame error free. Reports include service, radiation survey, parts requirements and travel expenses.
  • Parts Management: Order, install, and return parts per process and work-instruction guidelines.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean work environment and ensure company safety procedures and product workmanship procedures are adhered to.
  • Accident Reporting: Report all accidents and safety incidents. Complete accident reports when required and work with management to investigate, identify, and implement corrective/preventative actions.
  • Team Collaboration: Liaison between customer and company providing feedback on quality and customer satisfaction.

  • It is the responsibility of every Rapiscan Systems employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate of Science degree in electronics or a related technical discipline, or equivalent military training or experience is highly desired.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a field service environment, preferably in the x-ray industry.
  • Skills: Strong customer-focused, troubleshooting, mechanical, electrical, and electronic repair skills.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and written (English)
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize workloads based on contractual requirements
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight.
  • Must be a team player with ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environment with minimal oversight
  • Computer literate with competency in MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.
  • Smartphone/tablet liberate with ability to utilize productivity/CRM app to provide updates
  • Knowledge of electronic and electrical/mechanical assemblies with ability to interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Basic understanding of networking protocols
  • Familiarity with test equipment (DVM, oscilloscope, and line test monitors) and experience with high voltage.
  • Experience installing and configuring various software including operating systems
  • Other Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass in-depth background and credit checks
  • Non-standard work schedule primarily Nights (8pm - 4:30am) supporting special project
  • Planned on-call, weekends and holidays where required to support client's operational hours.
  • Travel requirements are 0 - 70% by public transportation (air, rail or car) with some overnight stays
  • Available to travel at short notice, non-standard hours, on weekends and holidays as required.
