Overview

Rapiscan Systems designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products range from hand held metal detectors to Real Time Tomography used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for people, weapons, explosives, drugs, money, and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as, airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations and nuclear facilities.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team in Andover, MA. This role is critical in ensuring that our products meet rigorous quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality engineering within a manufacturing or high-tech environment, with a passion for continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and support quality activities across product development, manufacturing, and service operations, overseeing the product from concept throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure design for manufacturability and quality
  • Implement and maintain quality systems in compliance with ISO 9001, and other applicable standards
  • Support internal and external audits, including regulatory and customer audits
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and external quality issues
  • Facilitate risk management activities including FMEA, fishbone diagrams, and reliability analysis
  • Support quality initiatives, including performance monitoring and improvement plans
  • Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial desired), or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in electronics, medical devices, or security systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify methods for evaluating complex issues with multiple variables using quality tools and methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, SPC, DOE, etc.)
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and regulatory compliance (EU, TSA, etc.)
  • Proficient in understanding and applying quality management systems (QMS), ERP systems, and statistical software
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and influence multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
  • ASQ certification (CQE, CQA) is a plus
