Join the
Radiation Oncology service at the Terry Companion Animal Medical Center, where we provide cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic care for veterinary oncology patients. This isn't just a clinical role; it is an opportunity to be at the forefront of veterinary medicine, working in a fast-paced teaching environment dedicated to battling cancer and supporting the human-animal bond.
Your Impact
As a cornerstone of our Radiation Oncology team,
you will be the primary advocate for our patients and the main point of contact for their families. You will blend advanced technical skill with empathetic communication to ensure every patient receives a seamless, world-class treatment experience.
What You Will Do
Advanced Clinical Execution
Precision Therapy: Orchestrate the scheduling and delivery of radiation treatments, including LINAC setup and delivery, ensuring every clinical plan is executed with absolute accuracy. Expert Diagnostics: Support and perform complex diagnostic procedures, including CT imaging and specialized oncology screenings. Critical Care & Nursing: Provide high-level patient care, from IV catheter placement and venipuncture to monitoring vitals (TPR, BP) and managing post-anesthesia recovery. Pharmacology Mastery: Perform moderate-risk drug calculations, including CRIs, chemotherapy therapies, and advanced pain management protocols.
Strategic Coordination & Leadership
Workflow Orchestration: Work in tandem with Anesthesia, Radiology, and CT teams to integrate services and optimize patient outcomes. Clinical Mentorship: Play a pivotal role in the academic mission by orienting, teaching, and coaching veterinary students, interns, residents, and new staff. Client Advocacy: Act as a bridge between clinicians and clients, translating complex diagnostics and treatment options into clear, compassionate updates.
Technical Stewardship
Quality Excellence: Maintain the highest standards of safety by performing quality control checks on specialized radiation equipment and adhering to OSHA, EHS, and Radiation Safety policies. Operational Integrity: Manage the "big picture" of patient visits, from financial estimating and billing to ensuring all medical supplies are stocked and ready.

Technically Proficient: You have in-depth knowledge of veterinary medicine and are comfortable operating specialized equipment like LINAC systems and anesthesia machines. A Natural Educator: You thrive in a teaching environment and enjoy sharing your knowledge with the next generation of veterinary professionals. Detail-Oriented & Adaptive: You can navigate the complexities of oncology cases-including Lymphoma and Osteosarcoma-with precision and a calm demeanor. Physically Capable:Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in medical diagnostics; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licenses.

| Preferred Qualifications |
Advanced Imaging & Radiation Experience: Prior experience operating Linear Accelerators (LINAC) and performing CT scans in a clinical or research setting. Teaching & Mentorship Background: Proven experience in an academic or specialty referral setting, with a track record of training veterinary students, interns, or junior staff. Complex Case Management: Demonstrated expertise in managing long-term oncology patients, including the administration of chemotherapy and the management of multi-modal treatment plans. Advanced Anesthesia & Monitoring Skills: Proficiency in high-level anesthesia monitoring and recovery, specifically for geriatric or critically ill patients undergoing repetitive radiation treatments.
