Overview:

The Heart Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking an RN to join the core Pediatric & Adult Advanced Cardiac Therapies (PAACT) medical team, helping to take care of patients throughout the spectrum of disease, from prior to heart failure (Cardiomyopathy, Muscular Dystrophy, Cardio-Oncology Clinics), with heart failure (primary PAACT clinic, Ventricular Assist Device patients), as well as to and through the process of Heart Transplant. A successful team-oriented candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team to see patients throughout these clinics as well as rotating inpatient service. There will be some call involved, related to Transplant, which is able to be managed from home. Cardiology experience, although not necessarily in heart failure, is preferred.

Essential Functions:
  • Develops, implements, and enhances special projects promoting inpatient/outpatient continuity of care and parent engagement.
  • Ensures the provision of high quality, individualized, comprehensive, cost effective patient across the continuum.
  • Initiates, tracks, analyzes, and manages all program quality improvement and research projects, program goals and objectives.
  • Coordinates functions with interdisciplinary medical care, liaison functions with patient, family, medical staff, and referring physicians.
  • Develops educational materials and programs for patients, nursing and ancillary staff, and physicians.
  • Develops clinical protocols, policies, and procedures including community education and public relations.

Education Requirement:
  • Bachelor's Degree, required.
  • Masters Degree in Nursing, preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

Registered nurse in the State of Ohio, required.

  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Good multiplatform communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
  • Ability to assist in conflict resolution.
  • Problem-solving and interpersonal skills required for interaction with contacts required.

Experience:

Three years of registered nurse experience, required.
