This is a professional, exempt, Information Technology position responsible for design, implementation, management and support of Linux workstations, and research instrumentation and devices. The successful candidate will analyze, document, install and maintain operating systems and servers, storage systems and other physical and software systems supported by the IT department. Providing excellent face-to-face technical support to both internal and external constituents is required. Due to the rapid change in this field, remaining current with emerging IT trends related to research computing and research support is expected. The successful candidate for this position will work well under pressure and maintain professional composure during high stress events. Outstanding communication skills are required. Essential Functions 
         Responsible for design, implementation, management and support of complex operating systems/platforms being supportedAnalyzes, documents, installs and maintains operating systems and servers, storage systems and/or other systems supported by the IT departmentProvides technical support to internal constituents. Stays current with emerging trendsProvides Linux Workstation Environment configuration, implementation and supportBuilds HPC desktop Windows and Linux machinesTier 2 and Tier 3 windows workstation environment supportProvides research instrumentation and workstation support configuration and maintenanceProvides High Performance Computing cluster configuration, implementation and supportTroubleshoots field hardware and software and helps users find solutions to their research technology challengesConsults with users for building non-standard machines such as HPC desktops to meet their workstation needsSupervises a small number of students, including coaching and mentoring, assigning tasks, approving timesheets, etc. May make hiring and salary recommendations students who work directly with this positionAdditional tasks as needed Non-Technical Responsibilities

 Candidates possessing one or more of the following qualifications will be given preference: 
         Experience with multi-system integration.Cloud Administration experience or certifications.Knowledge of a variety of computing hardware and research and engineering softwareDetail oriented mindset in collection of vital details of the supported systemsFamiliarity and experience working with the following software and operating systems:

 The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $52,916-$83,304 annually.  Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.  Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. The University of Missouri provides generous leave, health plans, and retirement contributions that add to your bottom line.
