Description
The Carpenter is responsible for designing, building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures,
furniture, and other items using different types of materials including steel, wood, plastic, fiberglass, or
drywall.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Enforce the Company's safety program in accordance with the company's best practice policies,
    local, state, and federal laws.
  • Implement and enforce the Company's quality control program to achieve quality workmanship
    in accordance with project requirements.
  • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and
    determine dimensions and materials required and check work along the way to ensure it's up to
    code and specifications.
  • Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures, join materials with
    nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw.
  • Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings.
  • Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses and buildings, using paint, hand tools, and
    paneling.
  • Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is
    level and secure.
  • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings,
    using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, and power tools.
  • Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses and buildings, using paint, hand tools, and
    paneling.
  • Create structures for pouring concrete including building concrete forms for tunnel or sewer
    construction project. Perform minor plumbing, welding and/or concrete mixing work.
  • Erect scaffolding, and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
  • Use latest technology and software to complete projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience, and Special Skills Required
  • At least five (5) years of experience as a carpenter.
  • Proven track record with client satisfaction and profitability.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, and ability to speak, read, write, and
    comprehend English.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Trustworthy, self-motivated, passionate and dedicated to high-quality work
Wage Transparency
In accordance with the Maryland Wage Transparency Law, the base salary range for this position is: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00
Coakley & Williams Construction offers a comprehensive total compensation and benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision coverage, employer-matched 401(k), paid time off and holidays, performance-based bonuses, wellness program, and other voluntary benefits and leave types. The determination of salary is based on the candidate's individual professional experience, qualification, education, skills, and training.
Job Demands
Individuals should be able to reach above and below, stoop and bend, sit, walk and stand. Individuals
should also be able to lift, carry and/or moving items up to 75lbs.
May be exposed to heavy machinery/equipment, hazardous chemicals and extreme weather conditions.
Minimum of 40 hours per week required. Works hours will vary depending on project specifications,
and may involve overtime, weekends and night work.
