Summary of Job Duties:The HVAC Supervisor is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems across the university campus. This position ensures that all climate control systems operate efficiently and comply with safety and environmental regulations. Also monitors and adjusts building automation systems (BAS) to optimize energy efficiency.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create preventative maintenance schedules, create a collaborative work environment that fosters training team members, and provide oversight and documentation of work performed.

General Responsibilities:

*Supervises the performance of assigned staff; takes disciplinary action when needed; assures substitute coverage as necessary; reviews schedules of various sites.
*Identifies training needs of staff and facilitates delivery of training.
*Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned HVAC technicians.
*Conducts performance evaluations in accordance with UA-PTC policies and procedures
*Writes and receives work orders; plans, supervises, and monitors work of HVAC technicians and external vendors performing HVAC related work on campus.
*Promotes positive morale and teamwork within the functional unit.
*Provides exceptional customer service to students, faculty and the community.
*Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers and fume hoods
*Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, leaks, and inefficiencies.
*Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment
*Replace filters, belts, motors, and other system components as needed
*Calibrate thermostats, sensors, and control systems to ensure optimal performance
*Ensure compliance with EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling and disposal
*Maintain records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
*Follow university safety protocols and OSHA guidelines when handling equipment and hazardous materials
*Respond promptly to HVAC-related service requests and emergency calls
*Provides technical expertise to recommend the purchase of replacement equipment and parts as needed
*Work closely with other maintenance personnel, electricians, and plumbers to ensure seamless facility operations
*Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the campus
*Provide technical guidance and support to other technicians
*Uses interpersonal skills and makes sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed between coworkers, the supervisory chain, faculty, staff, students, and customers.
*Working hours may include evenings, holidays or weekends depending on deadline requirements and special events.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

*Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
*Must have basic knowledge and understanding principals of plumbing and electrical for diagnosing equipment
*Ability to supervise and implement comprehensive HVAC and general maintenance programs.
*Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
*Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Programs including email and spreadsheets
*Ability to lead, supervise, instruct, and train others in the work, including the operation and proper use of equipment.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team
*Ability to grasp concepts and procedures quickly.
*Ability to manage complex, multi-discipline projects involving multiple locations.
*Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and make recommendations in support of goals. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

* The equivalent education of a high school diploma

* Class B HVAC License or obtained within 3 months

* EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants (Universal)

* Valid driver's license required

* Five years experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair

* One year Supervisory experience

* Class B HVAC License

* Valid Driver's License

Required license(s)/certification(s):

* Class B HVAC License

* Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

* Technical certification or associate degree in HVAC technology, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred.

* Additional HVAC certifications (e.g., NATE, Class A HVAC License)
