Position Highlights |
The position will help oversee and manage the annual and long-term performance of the institution's assets under management. They will prepare reports, evaluate and analyze financial information, conduct market research and analyses to support the selection and monitoring of investments, and work with external investment managers to implement trading strategies under the supervision of the Treasury Director. We are seeking a highly organized and self-motivated individual, who will exhibit professional and competent knowledge of accounting principles, financial industry practices, investments, portfolio management, data compilation and spreadsheet management, and databases. Duties & Responsibilities |
Portfolio Management & Monitoring:
- Helps direct investment activities of the university's operating funds and quasi-endowment portfolios, working with unit and division leadership to achieve both short and long term goals.
- Develops and monitors cash flow and liquidity projections, aligning investment maturities with the organization's liquidity need.
- Authorizes and executes the purchase and sale of financial assets through broker-dealers on behalf of the institution.
- Invests and maintains bond trustee accounts in accordance with institutional guidelines.
- Builds and maintains relationships with asset managers, brokers, and other industry partners.
Analysis & Reporting:
- Prepares financial models and performance analyses of fixed income and equity investments.
- Performs market analysis to strategically position the university's investment portfolios.
- Completes financial and audit reports for internal and external stakeholders on an as-needed basis.
- Compiles and publishes the Note 3 - Deposits and Investments section of the university's annual financial report.
- Produces the institution's days cash on hand report to support liquidity management.
- Delivers updates and presentations to the university's Investment Committee on a quarterly basis.
Treasury Operations:
- Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, contractual obligations, and internal portfolio management policies.
- Reconciles trades and investment activity between brokers, custodians, and accounting systems.
- Processes payments, maintains records, and manages documentation to support investment operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of investment principles and practices.
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial industry practices, portfolio management, spreadsheet creation and management, and databases.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Possession of the following Certifications and Licenses: Series 7, 63, 65.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
