Under the direction of the chief technologist or his/her designee, performs radiographic examinations during pain management interventional procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required
Essential Functions
- Patient and Room Preparation: This task includes a) entering patient data into computer systems as necessary. b) Printing c) Ensure assigned room is properly equipped with linen, d) Move patient into procedure room either on stretcher, wheelchair or ambulating, e) Assist in transfers of patient to x-ray
table if necessary. * Error free data entry in computer systems. Room turnaround time of 5 minutes after completion of previous case (this may also depend on other support services i.e. housekeeping). Ability to work in parallel so that nursing, medical, and technological staff are efficient. - Obtain radiographic images: This task includes the proper setting of exposures factors and proper positioning of the patient including immobilizing devices if necessary to obtain high quality images for physician.
* patient position are under the control of the technologist with direction from physician performing procedure and established protocols. - Correct labeling of all radiographic images: This task includes the proper use of the patient identification labels and side markers for identification of each print.
* Error free labeling of all images with patient identification label and side markers. - Maintain all necessary records of films, fluoro time, etc.
* Error free documentation of necessary records. - Observe all rules and regulations regarding patient identification and radiation safety for patients and staff.
* Error free observance of radiation safety procedures. Zero tolerance for misidentification and/or misadministration. - Assist physician if required in the administration of contrast material: these tasks include the preparation of contrast material in syringes and other equipment necessary for injection.
* Error free preparation of contrast material. - Train students.
* Knowledgeable information while training other associates and students. - Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area.
* Clean and orderly work area. - Perform other related assigned tasks.
Qualifications
- High School Required
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technician program required
- Registered Radiologic Technologist Licensed by the State of New York Required
- ARRT certification required
- OHS Fit Test Required
- OHS Annual Assessment Required
- Associates Degree preferred
