Clariant is currently seeking a Senior Chemist to support the personal care division of our Care Chemicals business unit in New Providence, NJ. In this role, you will lead research projects, develop new formulations, and improve existing products while ensuring technical feasibility and compliance with industry standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver practical solutions that meet customer needs and drive innovation in the personal care space. Responsibilities



  • Lead and execute research projects for personal care applications from concept to completion
  • Develop new products and enhance existing formulations, ensuring technical feasibility
  • Conduct complex chemical analyses and testing procedures; design and implement experimental methodologies
  • Interpret and document analytical results; maintain laboratory equipment and ensure calibration standards
  • Ensure compliance with quality control procedures and safety regulations
  • Manage project timelines, set milestones, monitor progress, and prepare technical documentation and reports
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality Control, ESHA, Marketing, and Sales
  • Provide technical expertise to internal stakeholders and interface with customers on technical matters
  • Train and mentor junior chemists, contributing to team knowledge and growth
  • Recommend process improvements, select appropriate analytical methods, and provide technical input on product development initiatives



Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field
  • A minimum of 4 years of laboratory experience in a research and development environment
  • Experience with personal care applications and/or performance testing for personal care products, preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) is a plus
