CLA is currently seeking a Communications Senior to join our talented Communications team. This role supports the Communications team by drafting compelling written communications, as well as proofreading and revising the content of written communication materials in preparation for final publication. This role manages CLA's internal newsletters and helps with intranet updates. They may specialize in communications content for either the external communications or internal communications teams.

This role reports to the Managing Director of Public Relations and Communications and regularly interacts with CLA family members across a variety of functions. May also interact with external sources, such as journalists, job seekers, campus event organizers, professional association administrators, and regulatory agencies.

How you'll create opportunities in this Communications Senior role:

  • Communication Strategy:
    • Internal: Supports the development and execution of an effective and cohesive communications strategy geared toward internal CLA family members. Reviews and edits communications drafted by internal stakeholders and makes recommendations to ensure messaging is consistent with internal strategy and tone. Helps create and implement specific communications action plans, timelines, and defined deliverables that support the communication of internal messages helping CLA shape culture, drive engagement, and deliver results. Continually improves, measures, and evaluates effectiveness of family member communications strategy and methods.
    • External: Supports the development and execution of competitive, engaging, and cohesive communications strategies geared toward the external marketplace, social media platforms, and potential candidate pools.
  • Communication Delivery:
    • Internal: Ensures internal messages are communicated to family members in a clear, timely, and effective manner, using a high impact writing style and format. Writes, edits, and produces communications geared toward internal audiences via presentations, scripts, briefing documents, intranet articles, Yammer messages, and firm-wide emails.
    • External: Develops press releases, memos, organizational missions, and other external communications to be shared via any market-facing platform. Responds to inquiries from the public, the press, consumers, government agencies, etc. Acts as company spokesperson at promotional events (press conferences, open days, exhibitions, tours and visits, etc.) Researches targeted audience and suggests communication channels to utilize.
  • Collaboration: Maintains distribution lists and relationships with media professionals. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to integrate family member communications content into overall Firm goals and messaging. Collaborates and supports the work of internal teams to ensure cohesive and uniform messaging across all functions as well as externally to the market.
  • Social Media: Contributes to the execution of a comprehensive social media strategy to engage CLA's key audiences and stakeholders. Develops connections across CLA's marketing and communications functions to coordinate overall strategies and drive stronger results across all functions. Develops and assist with social media campaigns and plans for CLA leaders and SMEs. Connects with internal marketing, human resources, learning and development, and video content teams to develop and implement overall social media plans for the firm.

What you will need:

  • 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of relevant experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Power Point, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)
  • Advanced skill in use of social media
  • Advanced skills in use of AI tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range. These same factors may cause starting pay to be below or above the posted range. The Minnesota posting range for this role is $65,100 - $113,000
