The Department of Neurology is a clinical, research and academic department within the UC Davis School of Medicine. This position is located at the UC Davis Imaging of Dementia and Aging (IDEA) Laboratory in Davis, California. This laboratory currently supports research activities through 19 NIH or DOD funded projects totaling over 30 million dollars. The focus of the laboratory is mathematical modeling of human brain imaging that includes magnetic resonance (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) image data.
The laboratory in addition, supervises the acquisition of these images done at the UC Davis Medical Center, in Sacramento, California, via the UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Center. The structure of the IDEA lab includes 4 full-time PhD researchers, 4 IT specialists, 4 image analysts and one lab manager. There are three sections in the laboratory: 1) Research/Computer modeling, 2) Image Analysis and 3) Data Management. This is a highly technically skilled laboratory on par with many basic science programs, but with a human, mathematical and computing emphasis. This position will assist the lab manager in the day-to-day activities of the lab, which will require working closely with all three sections of the lab which are stated above.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Completion of human subjects research training for biomedical researchers within 1 month of hire.
- No minimum education required
- Experience with analysis protocols and meticulous lab analysis methods is required.
- Experience with computer algorithms, higher level computing associated with Python code in the Linux environment.
- Experience with Data management utilizing software tools such Excel, database creation, FTP transfer protocols, DICOM processing, and E-Film software is required.
- Able to multi-task and be adaptable to changing demands.
- Working knowledge of neuroanatomy and basic neuroanatomical expertise.
- Basic aspects and knowledge of MRI physics.
- Self starter, able to work independently.
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbally, and strong interpersonnel skills.
- Dependable and able to work in multiple team environments.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Detail oriented, demonstrated ability to track and report research data using computerized applications.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS in Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Psychology or related field
- At least 1 year of working in a laboratory setting.

Department Overview
The IDeA Lab, as part of the UC Davis Health Department of Neurology, focuses on using advanced mathematical modeling of neuroimaging to investigate brain structural and functional differences associated with aging, vascular, and neurodegenerative diseases among under-represented populations. The primary structural and functional imaging techniques that we use are positron emission tomography (PET) with FDG, amyloid and tau tracers, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Additionally, we evaluate the genetics of MRI endophenotypes.
