Torch Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer 5 to provide high-level operational, technical, and scientific support to the Program Executive Office (PEO), Missiles and Space (MS) Product Manager Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (PdM - C-UAS), supporting the PEO-MS Deputy for Acquisition and System Management (DASM), the Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE), and other key stakeholders across the Army and Department of Defense (DoD). This role is critical to the successful execution and integration of C-UAS systems and technologies, contributing to major phases of significant projects through advanced research, systems design, and technical leadership.

As a Technical Systems Engineer 5 your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Provide engineering and technical support to the PdM C-UAS and its mission partners, including the PEO M&S DASM and the Fires Center of Excellence.
  • Develop and apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques to solve complex system design problems and technical challenges.
  • Plan and technically direct assigned projects or major phases of significant programs, coordinating with engineering teams and technical support staff.
  • Conduct investigations of considerable technical complexity in support of evolving C-UAS operational and acquisition requirements.
  • Evaluate and integrate complex hardware/software systems to ensure mission effectiveness and operational relevance.
  • Conduct literature reviews, patent searches, and research current industry and government practices to inform technical decision-making.
  • Assess and recommend enhancements or corrections in technical applications, models, or system implementations.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities and proposed solutions to meet performance, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Provide technical consultation and advice to internal and external stakeholders, including participation in technical reviews and working groups.
  • May provide work leadership to junior engineers or support staff; however, this role does not carry full supervisory responsibilities.

Job Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a closely related technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 10+ years of progressively related experience.
  • Active DoD security clearance at the TS level, TS/SCI is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with integration of complex hardware/software systems, or background in modeling & simulation, sensor integration, or system-of-systems design.
  • Proven ability to analyze, evaluate, and implement technical solutions in a mission-critical, multi-agency environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Experience supporting PEO M&S or other Army acquisition organizations.
  • Familiarity with C-UAS technologies, operational scenarios, and integration efforts.
  • Experience in a DoD program office or R&D environment focused on rapid prototyping or system fielding.
