Fabrication Technician I-V

Reports To:

Shop Supervisor

Function:

Perform all manufacturing processes to complete standard products assigned to the fabrication cell. Responsibilities include assembly, welding, coiling, hydrotesting, and packaging procedures in accordance with work instructions, drawings, and specifications.

Position Summary:

Standard Product Technicians support the manufacture of standard products through multi-disciplinary operations in a cross-functional work cell. Technicians perform mechanical assembly, welding, coiling, engraving, and testing. Each level of the role corresponds to skill development and proficiency outlined in the Fabrication Technician Training Matrix. Employees are expected to gain proficiency and take on leadership responsibilities as they progress from Level I to V.

Job Levels and Responsibilities

Fabrication Technician I - Entry Level

  1. Perform basic mechanical assemblies following standardized work instructions.
  2. Assist in operating cell equipment including saws, grinders, and basic assembly tools.
  3. Maintain part inventories and perform basic ERP transactions.
  4. Follow safety practices and support clean work environments.
  5. Support general housekeeping and organizational efforts.
  6. Learn to use equipment such as tube straighteners and hydrotest machines.

Fabrication Technician II

  1. Perform welding, assembly, and hydrotesting tasks independently under limited supervision.
  1. Maintain accurate records of parts used, finished goods, and work orders.
  2. Recognize and report defective parts; perform in-process testing.
  3. Support packaging and material handling for outbound product.
