Starkey is hiring for an individual to fill our Corporate Counsel role at our Global headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. The Corporate Counsel will provide strategic guidance, direction and assistance across a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters for the Company and its subsidiaries. This position represents and advocates for the Company and its subsidiaries in dealings with third parties in various commercial transactions. This position will draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements with vendors and other business partners. Corporate Counsel will provide real-time and ongoing assistance to business operations with respect to legal and business issues.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/RESULTS



  • Engage various business functions and to provide effective counsel in support of the business goals including the preparation of appropriate legal agreements.
  • Represent the company's interests in various commercial dealings with vendors and counter parties.
  • Work with and manage outside counsel on risk mitigation initiatives including serving as a direct contact for, and interacting with, colleagues and outside counsel regarding various enterprise questions and/or matters.
  • Serve various business functions (including but not limited to operations, IT and finance) as a business partner to their teams in addition to being a legal counsel.
  • Work with other members of the Legal Department to develop bandwidth and cross-functional knowledge.
  • Manage and mentor members of the Legal Department to develop talent and depth.
  • Support due diligence associated with the company's strategic and tactical activities.
  • Perform legal and factual research.
  • Represent the company's interests in distressed transactions.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned



JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education, Certification and Experience Requirements



  • Education (i.e. 4-year college degree, license, certification)

    • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university.
    • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
    • Admitted to practice in Minnesota


  • Experience (i.e. years of work experience related to the job)

    • 10 years of experience required, or having a willingness to develop a high level of competence in various functions supported by this role

  • Business acumen and an ability to provide legal advice in the context of strategic business initiatives and goals

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $162,000 - $200,000/ year. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Benefits:

The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements, include medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, short-term disability insurance, long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program, hearing aid benefits, PTO, 6 paid holidays annually, 2 floater days annually, 1 volunteer service day annually, paid paternity leave, and tuition reimbursement.

This position is eligible for a bonus based upon performance results. There is no guarantee of payout.
