THE POSITION

Are you seeking challenging and meaningful work in investment reporting, operations, & treasury payment functions? We are looking for someone to support the Investment Reporting & Payments team within the Investment Reporting and Budget Division. This position will assist in reviewing, processing, and analyzing investment reporting and investment operations activities to include the research, analysis and assistance with the creation of related procedures for the Pension Fund's (Fund) $80+ billion complex and diverse investment portfolio. A successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, in particular Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams; strong attention to detail/technical acumen; excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal; collaborative work ethic; ability to comprehend and adapt to new/complex financial investment information and processes and how they function across divisions and business units; ability to analyze said information for providing conclusions and responses on inquiries from Senior Management, provide recommendations for process improvements, and serve as a technical resource for the Fund's various investment asset classes as they relate to the custodian bank system and bank account maintenance.

The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS,
www.psers.pa.gov), is an agency in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that administers the pension plan for Pennsylvania's public school employees. The mission of PSERS is to maintain a financially sound System that supports over a half million members with a current pension fund of approximately $80+ billion. This position will play a contributing part in ensuring PSERS fulfills its mission and values.

PSERS is located in Harrisburg, PA, a mid-size city situated along the Susquehanna River. Teleworking is optional, with an occasional need to report to the Harrisburg office as operationally necessary. If requesting to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and be located in Pennsylvania. The Harrisburg area is affordable and near many attractions including Hershey, and it is only two hours from major cities and airports like Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This Investment Accounting Specialist works in a section of the Office of Financial Management to assist with processing, and approving investment cash and FX transactions, treasury and operations activities, designing controls, and procedures for a Pension Fund's (Fund) $80+ billion complex and diverse investment portfolio. The position primarily assists in the analysis of complex investment transactions, as well as in the oversight function for the overall investment reporting of the Fund's investments, the approval of investment related expenses, cash, and FX transactions, and certain custodian bank account maintenance requests.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours (negotiable) are between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30 or 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree; and two or more years of professional accounting or auditing experience, which includes one or more years of professional investment accounting, investment auditing or investment operations experience.
  • Business-related master's degree or designation as a Certified Public Accountant may be substituted for one year of general accounting or auditing experience.

Additional Requirements:

Preferred Criteria (not required):

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience in professional accounting or auditing experience, which includes two or more years of professional investment accounting, investment auditing or investment operations experience.
  • Completed one or more certifications as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CTP (Certified Treasury Professional), and CGFM (Certified Government Financial Manager).
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams.
  • Experience in a mutual fund, treasury government office, pension fund, foundation, investment consultant, or an endowment.
