What is the opportunity?

Joining the Securities Lending Team in New York, the candidate will be part of a team that manages the equity and multi asset funding for Global Equities, Wealth Management and Quantitative Strategies teams as well as its own customers

What will you do?

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To conduct equity borrowing and lending activities in support of RBC Global Markets trading, market making and hedging activities, which include:
  • Borrowing securities to settle firm transaction across RBC CM LLC and Royal Bank of Canada
  • Manage and direct returns and operational aspects of the business
  • Provide Locates and Market Colour
  • Engage in Principal Market Making transactions
  • To ensure all transactions comply at all times with local laws, regulation, and rules, including those of the central securities depositories, such as DTC and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York
  • To develop and foster strong working relationship with key contacts throughout RBC
  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis

Experience:

  • 1-3 years' experience in the Securities Finance or other Capital Markets activity
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Prefer experience with Excel, Programming languages and other technology applicable to the business

What do you need to succeed?

  • BA, MBA, MA, or MS or equivalent
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • 1-3 years of experience in the Financial markets
  • Strong team player
  • Basic financial markets knowledge
  • Strong Excel or equivalent programming skills
  • University degree
  • Trading licenses as determined by Compliance
  • Series 7 & 63

The base salary range for this job is $100,000 - $125,000 per year. This salary does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
