Job Summary:


The Supply Chain Manager is positioned at the interface between JOA's product teams and the industries that supply products, components, and raw materials. This position is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies as well as recommending product innovations. The position requires an interest in market dynamics, negotiation and pricing, manufacturing processes, and risk mitigation.



Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions of the Job:



  • Develop sourcing strategies and corresponding practices for each of the major classes of materials, equipment, supplies, and services purchased to identify opportunities, develop, and execute sourcing action plans and assists in optimizing sourcing procedures to attain maximum efficiency and optimal outcomes.
  • Develop a nuanced understanding of the commodity landscape in order to forecast industry trends and gauge emerging competitive forces.
  • Partner with internal clients to ensure that all material, equipment, service, and quality requirements are understood, and are relevant, and cost impacts are acknowledged.
  • Negotiate agreements that minimize financial and business risk and provide optimal terms and conditions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies that will improve competitive advantage.
  • Develop and implement data driven analysis including cost modeling, quotation analysis, and identification of industry and platform trends, to focus on the total cost of ownership and evaluate all spending to ensure that the procurement of all supplies, services, and equipment are optimized.
  • Partner with suppliers to achieve continuous improvements in costs and performance.
  • Develop and implement supplier development standards, including performance scorecards, and measure supplier performance against stated goals.
  • Manage warehouse for effective processes, implementing efficiencies and determining best practices for the department.
  • Understand the trade-offs between cost, volume, and quality in order to strike agreements that meet Apple's performance criteria and secure long-term supply continuity.
  • Collaborate across the organization to ensure business objectives are met. Includes the ability to rapidly synthesize and communicate findings to senior leaders and to actively identify potential supply issues that can affect product strategy.
  • Optimize global supply chain performance through cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking. Develop an in-depth understanding of value-added manufacturing processes and costs, reverse logistics, and market intelligence, and apply this knowledge to influence Apple's future product roadmap and sourcing decisions.
  • Assess and mitigate risks to the business. Manage global supply chain disruptions in real time with the support of an international team.
  • Drive communication within the team to ensure understanding of the business, alignment to the strategic plan (and their role in achievement of that plan) and other appropriate team communications.
  • Provide strategic leadership towards continuous quality improvement of people, processes, technology, and policies among the engineering talent pool.
  • Develop a high performing organization through the recruitment, development, and retention of their team.
  • Drive talent development initiatives within their organization.



Job Requirements:



  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field
  • At least five years of managerial experience in a manufacturing organization with taking on progressively more complex roles or equivalent years of engineering experience
  • MRP/ERP experience required
  • Previous experience in a global organization; global platform management preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to collaborate with others (including in person) to proactively develop solutions
