Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior Data Scientist needed for our program supporting USSTRATCOM in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with USSTRATCOM agencies to identify their artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) requirements, leading complex analytics activities to identify potential solutions, applying advanced AI/ML algorithms (e.g., large language models and Generative AI solutions), developing/leading the development of new software to employ AI/ML tools, developing/leading the development of methods to exploit quantum technologies and protect against quantum threat vectors, and developing/leading the development of training resources to help educate USSTRATCOM personnel on how to employ delivered tools.

What you'll do:

    Leading discovery activities/making discoveries in the world of big data
  • Collaborating with multiple stakeholders to assess customer requirements for the Command's artificial intelligence and machine learning directorate
  • Leading development/developing and employing advanced predictive analysis, ML algorithms, data visualizations, generative AI, and other data science methods to derive meaningful insight to advance the mission of USSTRATCOM and its components
  • Researching, generating, and recommending data science-based solutions that support customer requirements
  • Analyzing unstructured and semi-structured data and the application of analysis algorithms on distributed, clustered, and cloud-based high-performance infrastructures
  • Exercising creativity in applying non-traditional approaches to large-scale analysis of unstructured data in support of high-value use cases visualized through multi-dimensional interfaces
  • Performing applied research to identify and apply emerging data science technologies to support satisfying USSTRATCOM data science
  • May be asked to research and identify potential emerging solutions and tools for application to USSTRATCOM needs (e.g., quantum technology)

Note: This is a full-time position working onsite during normal daytime business hours.



Qualifications

What you'll need:

  • 8 years with a B.S/B.A, 6 years with a M.S/M.A, 3 years with a PhD, 12 years of applicable experience in lieu of degree will be acceptable
  • Strong technical and computational skills and a background in engineering, physics, mathematics, or computer science coupled with the ability to design, develop, and deploy sophisticated data science applications. Note: This may include using advanced unstructured and semi-structured data analysis techniques or utilizing high-performance computing environments

Required qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Experience leading a team of Data Scientists

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience with software development, either on open-source enterprise software development stack (Python/R/mySQL/Java/Linux/Ruby) or a Windows development stack (.NET, C#, C++)
  • Experience with Databricks
  • Experience with AWS or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with data transport and transformation APIs and technologies such as JSON, XML, XSLT, JDBC, SOAP and REST
  • Experience with Cloud-based data analysis tools including Hadoop and Mahout, Acumulo, Hive, Impala, Pig, and similar
  • Experience with visual analytic tools like Microsoft Pivot, Palantir, or Visual Analytics
  • Experience with open-source textual processing such as Lucene, Sphinx, Nutch or Solr
  • Experience with entity extraction and conceptual search technologies such as LSI, LDA, etc.
  • Experience with machine learning, algorithm analysis, and data clustering

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
