What you will do The Buyer Planner is responsible for managing the procurement and planning of raw materials, components, and services to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures timely material availability to meet production schedules while optimizing inventory levels and maintaining cost efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of supply chain processes. How you will do it
Purchase raw materials, components, and MRO supplies in alignment with production requirements. Review and Interpret system messages-Buy/Cancel/Reduce/Defer/Expedite - Negotiate delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure on time delivery. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to align material availability with manufacturing schedules. Adjust purchase plans based on changes in demand, lead times, or production priorities. Monitor inventory levels and safety stock to prevent shortages or excess and impact to inventory dollars and Days Inventory On Hand (DIOH). Be proactive in identifying risks to the manufacturing build plan - JIRA escalation process Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and Procurement team. Track supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance. Non-conforming material (NCR) - Disposition - Credit - Return to Vendor (RTV) Analyze usage trends, forecasts, and historical data to inform purchasing decisions. Generate reports on material availability, supplier performance, and cost savings. Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records of purchase orders and supplier communications. Assist in resolution of pricing/invoice discrepancies (MAPLE)
What we look for Required
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field. (Preferred) 2-5 years of experience in purchasing or planning within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Lean DNA). Strong knowledge of supply chain, inventory control, and production planning principles. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools. Data Driven - Analytic
Preferred
APICS CPIM or CSCP certification. Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $62,000- 91,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, andabilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
