Job Title: Arts Programming Coordinator
Department: Red Brick Center for the Arts

Hiring Range: $30.24 - $34.02

Position Summary: As a member of the highly collaborative, dynamic, and active Red Brick Center Arts department, this position will be a participating member of the department's overall mission and programming. This position develops, plans, and oversees the implementation of youth and adult art programming, community events, and new programming opportunities. Additionally, this position supports the gallery exhibition program with administrative, planning, and implementation needs. This position involves regular engagement with diverse groups, including arts programming participants, gallery artists, city staff, organizational partners, vendors, and community members. An enthusiasm for collaboration, fostering community engagement in the arts, and possessing strong organizational skills are essential, along with performing responsibilities consistent with the City of Aspen's organizational values and mission statement.

Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the direct supervision of the Director of Red Brick Center for the Arts.

Essential Job Functions:

Youth and Adult Arts Educational Programming

  • Develops, plans, coordinates, and implements ongoing arts education programming for youth and adults of all skill levels.
  • Under the direction of the Red Brick Center for the Arts Director, develops new arts education programming based on community needs and interests.
  • Manages and implements program operations and registrations including management of the online registration platform and registration communication.
  • Works with Art Educators to develop art curricula.
  • Manages the hiring and onboarding of new Art Educators.
  • Responsible for facility management of the art classroom and any auxiliary spaces for arts programming. Assures equipment, room, and supplies are orderly and adhere to safety usage standards.
  • Supports Art Educators and Art Camp Counselors as needed to creates a welcoming, safe, and creative learning environment for participants.
  • Substitutes teach youth classes and camps as needed.
  • Develops and implements program evaluation methods for continuous improvement and program assessment.
  • Supports expanding Red Brick Arts' youth scholarship fund and distribution.

Customer Service

  • Provides positive customer service and information to all including tenants, patrons, and visitors regarding Red Brick general information, program content, gallery, and registration process.
  • Addresses any customer service related needs that may arise in the course of work.

Marketing and Communications

  • Develops and coordinate marketing and communication needs for arts programming and events.
  • Supports Red Brick social media and website updates related to arts programming and community events.

Budget

  • Monitors and manages revenue and expenses for arts programming, gallery, and events.
  • Evaluates budget allocations and makes recommendations on sustainable budget management.

Gallery and Events

  • Administrates and coordinates gallery exhibitions including call for entries, communication with exhibiting artists, installation, and de-installation of exhibits.
  • Oversees facility management of gallery spaces.
  • Facilitates art sales with patrons and work to increase art sales through development of patron relations.
  • Administrates and participates in Red Brick Arts Gallery Committee.
  • Coordinates and implements Red Brick Arts events.
  • Under the direction of the Red Brick Center for the Arts Director, develops new opportunities and events for local and regional artists and for the community to engage with the arts.

Special Projects

  • Assists the Director in the development of new programming to serve unique groups in our community.
  • Engages with community partners such as the Aspen School District, other regional arts and culture organizations, and public serving organizations on the creation of collaborative programming.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in the Arts or related field.
  • Experience: Two years of experience in arts administration, gallery, arts education, or other arts related work.
  • Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (email), and PowerPoint. Must have a basic understanding of computers and online, computer-based technology applications, including accessing web-based platforms and point-of-sale software. Some familiarity with Oracle Fusion Cloud is preferred, or must be comfortable learning new systems as needed.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date.

NOTE: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge, and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements above.

Preferred Candidate: BA or MA in arts administration or prior arts administration experience.

NOTE: This position requires a Criminal Background Check upon hire. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.

Position Type and Work Hours
*Regular full time, hours may vary with workload.
*Evenings/weekends may be required in addition to or instead of normal business hours depending on department needs and special projects.

Work Environment
*Indoors: Red Brick Center for the Arts facility which includes office environment, art classroom, and gallery.
*Outdoors/Off-Site: Meetings, art classes, events, and training at a variety of city facilities and areas. Some outdoor work may be required in varied weather conditions.
