BlueHalo, an AV Company is seeking a dynamic and motivated early career scientist or engineer with a passion for high voltage power electronics research and related hardware experimentation to join our team working at the Air Force Research Lab in Dayton, OH. WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Programming: Write and optimize code for real-time hardware control systems in languages such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink
- Design, assemble, and maintain experimental setups for power electronics and high voltage testing
- Execute experiments and systematically collect data. Ensure accuracy and reliability of data through meticulous attention to detail
- Maintain detailed records of experiments, methodologies, and results. Prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to achieve project goals.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills are crucial
- Utilize analytical tools to interpret experimental results and draw meaningful conclusions
- Efficiently organize and manage experimental data, protocols, and related digital resources to ensure the accessibility of information for the entire team
- Systems Integration: Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to integrate control systems with sensors, actuators, and hardware components
- Modeling and Simulation: Create and validate models of systems using simulation tools to predict performance and troubleshooting issues
- Testing and Validation: Develop test procedures and run experiments to validate control system performance and make improvements as needed
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in real-time systems
- Collaboration: Work with a multidisciplinary team to support system design, testing, and production phases
- Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of control systems designs, algorithms, and performance tests
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING
- This position involves working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related discipline
- 0-3 years of experience
- Programming skills in C/C++, Python, or MATLAB/Simulink
- Proficiency in experimental design, setup, and execution
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and simulation software
- Strong organizational skills to maintain lab space and digital resources
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Eager to learn, motivated, and passionate about contributing to innovative projects
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in engineering
- Knowledge of high voltage operation principles and safety protocols
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize high voltage systems
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) or embedded software development
- Familiarity with hardware interfaces such as CAN, I2C, and SPI
- Knowledge of how to use general lab equipment (oscilloscopes, function generator, lab supply, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate complex technical concepts effectively
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently
- Ability to work in a team environment and lead small projects or teams
