The Director, Corporate Human Resources Business Partners serves as a strategic leader within the corporate HR function, driving the development, implementation, and execution of proactive human capital strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives. This role partners with senior leadership across the enterprise, providing guidance on all aspects of human resources-including talent acquisition, retention, employee engagement, compensation strategy, compliance, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness.

Serving as a key business advisor, the Director ensures consistent application of best practices and HR policies, fostering a high-performance culture across multiple corporate divisions and business units. This position requires extensive experience in navigating complex HR and employee relations challenges in a corporate, multi-location environment. The Director plays a critical role in shaping HR strategies that support Smithfield's One HR vision, ensuring alignment with business needs and reinforcing a strong, inclusive workplace culture.

  • Strategic Leadership & Talent Development

    • Partners with executive leadership to establish forward-looking people strategies that support organizational performance and growth.

    • Provides guidance on corporate HR initiatives, including succession planning, talent development, performance management, and workforce planning.

    • Leads efforts to enhance leadership effectiveness, coaching senior leaders on conflict resolution, motivation, and engagement strategies.

  • Organizational & Cultural Impact

    • Analyzes corporate employee engagement and satisfaction trends, leveraging data to drive initiatives that strengthen retention and morale.

    • Champions company-wide culture programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering an inclusive workplace.

    • Develops HR strategies that promote organizational excellence, ensuring policies, systems, and processes attract, retain, and develop top talent.

  • Operational HR Excellence

    • Provides feedback to functional HR leaders, ensuring corporate policies and programs are effective, well-communicated, and consistently implemented.

    • Strengthens HR capability by assessing and developing corporate HR talent, fostering a high-performing team through ongoing mentorship and development.

    • Leads significant corporate change management initiatives, driving seamless transitions that support business transformation.

WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in human resources, business, operations, or agricultural related field and 10+ years of progressive human resource management experience in a protein or agricultural organization; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development is required.

  • Knowledge of Federal, State and corporate employment regulations and policies (EEO, Wage and Hour, etc.).

  • Possesses specialized knowledge of HR systems, processes and procedures.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), HCM and Payroll database software - Workday a plus.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

OTHER SKILLS THAT MAKE YOU STAND OUT:

  • MBA preferred.

  • PHR or SPHR certification desirable.
