We are the accounting office for the Commonwealth of PA and offer the full spectrum of accounting services for our agency customers. This position serves as an Accountant 3, on the front line, directly supervising and managing the staff and operations of a complex accounting unit responsible for accounting for Commonwealth of PA payments, received electronically or by paper, including inter-agency transfers and agency accounts receivables. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This Accountant 3, supervises and manages the staff and operations of the Accounts Receivable/Cost Allocation (ARCA) Team, within the Accounts Receivable/Cost Allocation/Revenue and Cash Management (ARCA/RCM) Unit within the Financial Accounting Division of the Bureau of Accounting and Financial Management (BAFM) of the Office of Comptroller Operations (OCO) and serves in the direct front line supervision of staff responsible for financial accounting and reporting functions related to accounts receivable/payment processing and intergovernmental transfers to ensure fiscal/legal accountability and transparency. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • You will be required to report to headquarters to pick up your equipment and attend periodic meetings at your expense.
  • Salary: All new employees with the Commonwealth will start at the minimum salary.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Accountant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.
  • Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation. A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
