We are seeking a proactive and experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and manage our client's EHS and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in Houston, TX. This critical role is responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and initiatives that ensure a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. As the EHS Manager, you'll drive compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and ISO 14001 standards, while helping to foster a culture of safety and sustainability across our operations in the U.S. and Mexico. This role does require onsite presence at manufacturing locations across the US and Mexico and will require 30-40% travel.

Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and oversee the implementation of corporate EHS and EMS programs, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct regular safety and environmental audits/assessments to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Maintain all relevant site environmental permits and oversee related reporting and applications
  • Lead chemical safety and management compliance efforts
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable local and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with engineers and operations staff to ensure equipment and facility safety
  • Coordinate and conduct employee safety training and emergency response drills
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports for audits and internal reviews
  • Represent the company in interactions with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
  • Oversee contractor safety and environmental compliance
  • Support Human Resources in maintaining and updating employee safety programs
  • Travel regularly to support operations and inspections (estimated 30-40%)



Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in health/safety management (required)
  • 10+ years of relevant EHS or chemical management experience in lieu of a degree
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
  • Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
  • Knowledge of chemical handling safety and industrial environmental practices
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills



Preferred Qualifications


  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certification
  • Auditor training certification
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (verbal and written)
  • Experience in the chemical distribution or manufacturing industry
