Job Description - Student Intern, Tax Services
Position Description
Tucson Electric Power, one of Tucson's premier employers, is seeking a Student Intern to join our Tax Department. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in corporate accounting while contributing to meaningful projects that support our financial operations.
As an intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals, gain exposure to corporate accounting systems and financial reporting processes, and enhance your communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills that are essential for a successful career in accounting.
Position-Related Responsibilities
- Participate in sales and use, income, and property tax return processes, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Utilize Oracle and Excel to extract and analyze financial data
- Conduct research on tax regulations and industry practices
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions
- Contribute to special projects and ad hoc requests
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours) at an accredited university
- Pursuing a degree in Accounting with a graduation date no earlier than December 2026
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
- Detail-oriented, strong analytical and organizational skills
- Available to work at least 20 hours per week during regular business hours, and up to 30 hours during summer and academic breaks
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Requirements
- Must maintain full-time student status and good academic standing. Failure to meet these academic requirements may result in removal from the internship program
Pay Rate: Salary determined based on candidates experience and qualifications.
