MISSION STATEMENT:

SCOPE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to implement and oversee the youth programs and outreach to children in and around the area served by The Salvation Army's Spokane Citadel Community Center and Camp Gifford. This outreach includes incorporating the established Salvation Army ministry and character-building programs such as Sun Beams, Girl Guards, Adventure Corps, Junior High Youth Group and Senior High Youth Group, basketball groups, Camp, Young Adults, College Age and other youth programing components throughout the center. This position will provide oversight to the After the Bell program and staff. Reporting directly to the Corps Officer, the Youth Ministry Outreach Coordinator provides leadership and support to all youth related programs.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
* Two or more years of leadership experience, preferred
* Two or more years of experience in Salvation Army programs, preferred
* Applicable higher education degree, preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
* Must possess a thorough working knowledge of, and give competent instruction in, Salvation Army doctrine
* Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate outreach programs that will be used to draw people to Jesus and consider The Salvation Army as a church home
* Must have a thorough understanding of, implement and observe all necessary Child Safety (Protecting the Mission) policies
* Must Possess a valid Driver's License and pass both a Motor Vehicle background check and TSA driver training course
* Ability to work independently and with other staff members
* Ability to work and conduct oneself in a professional manner
* Must be able to utilize all necessary office and ministry equipment adequately (i.e. computers, copy machines, video projectors, etc.)
* Must be able to keep work area organized, have good time management skills, and be able to complete necessary reports in a timely manner
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite
* Working knowledge of web applications such as: Facebook, Google Calendar, Sign Up Genius, and other social media programs
* Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide direct oversight and leadership to After the Bell program and staff
* Plan and implement the Christian education component at Camp Gifford for eight weeks during the summer, which will include providing oversight and leadership to Salvation Army Leadership Training (SALT) program participants
* Engage campers through letters, phone calls, and visits with the aim of inviting them to Corps youth programs
* Plan special events specifically aimed at inviting campers to summer camp and recruiting SALT participants
* Participate in the Spokane Citadel ministry team planning meetings
* Attend and participate in the weekly managers meeting
* Participate in Divisional Youth events as assigned by Corps Officer
* Attend Community meetings as assigned
* Ensure all youth participant applications and field trip forms are complete, accurate, and stored properly according to policy
* Maintain youth records in Corps Management, including, but not limited to, contact information, demographics, household information, relationships, enrollments, groups, and attendance
* Complete all required troop documentation including annual registration and monthly reports
* Supervise Tuesday youth programs ensuring all Protecting the Mission policies are being followed
* Ensure teachers follow provided curriculums and reports are turned in on time
* Provide substitute coverage when teachers are absent
* Facilitate the children's movement from class to class
* Maintain troop uniform inspection readiness, ensuring they remain clean and neat; ensure emblems are sewn on in a timely fashion
* Provide programming as assigned for English and Marshallese speaking congregants in the areas of youth/children's ministry including, but not limited to:
o After-school program
o Day Camp program
o Troops program
o Music school
o Camp Gifford
o League sports
o Gym rentals
o Seasonal events
o Sunday School
* Coordinate transportation schedule for participants of Corps programing and ministries with Fleet Coordinator; provide transportation as assigned
* Be responsible for all statistical reporting as assigned; input the information into Corps Management software
* Work with Corps Officer to plan special activities for FRC and campus guests' birthdays and all holidays, with special attention to all Christmas and Easter activities. These events will be coordinated within the Corps Calendar to ensure the greatest possibility for integration.
* Work with Corps Officer to welcome new guests on campus including making welcome baskets, doing in-home visits, and facilitating a spiritual assessment
* Work with Corps Officers to plan and implement the Movies in the Park program during the summer months. This includes assisting in set-up of movie, engaging with families before the movie (play games with kids, talk about our programs, invite to church, etc.) and cleanup afterward
* Assist with the Christmas Kettle program, as assigned, with the goal of fully understanding the complete program to include hiring, scheduling, site recruitment, site contact maintenance, employee retention, volunteer recruitment, kettle counting and depositing procedures, and all other aspects related to a successful campaign
* Attend the different weekly and monthly campus staff and house meetings on a rotating basis
* Provide support to the Corps Assistant with the staff and volunteers who work in the Community Center program; to include, training, compliance, reviews, scheduling, etc.
* Provide information and new content to Development for inclusion in the reader board, web page and Facebook posts

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting program demands
* Participate in child ministry physical activities
* Sit, move, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on intermittent or continuous basis
* Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
* Lift and carry up to 40 pounds
