GSK is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the newly established Oligo Platform Biology group. As a key contributor to this team, you will help establish in vitro assays that will enable GSK's internal oligonucleotide screening efforts across a variety of disease targets and oligonucleotide modalities (ASOs, siRNAs, SSOs & RNA editors).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support oligonucleotide drug discovery through the design, optimization and execution of molecular and cell-based assays for portfolio and platform projects
  • Culture immortalized/primary cell types, perform transfections and examine genetic perturbations at the RNA/protein level
  • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional stakeholders to drive progress and deliver on research milestones
  • Analyze experimental data and present findings to group and broader research teams
  • Maintain a well-documented electronic laboratory notebook
Why you? Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • MS with 3+ or BS with 5+ years of experience in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or related field.
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture techniques, including plating and transfection of nucleic acids in high-throughput formats (96-well and 384-well plates).

  • Experience in molecular biology techniques, including protein & nucleic acid extraction, electrophoresis, PCR, RT-qPCR and digital PCR (dPCR).

  • Skilled in protein expression analysis using methods such as western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry and immunofluorescence

  • Strong attention to detail with a track record of independently designing and executing experiments.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Industry experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with in vitro models for extrahepatic tissues (e.g., CNS, kidney, lung) is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with automated western / ELISA platforms (e.g., Jess, Ella) and liquid handlers (e.g., Viaflo 96/384) is a plus.
  • Previous experience in assay development and in oligonucleotide therapeutics (e.g. ASO, siRNA, SSO, RNA Editors) is preferred.
  • Sense of urgency, flexibility, independence and accountability.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels both inside and outside of organization.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity while balancing multiple priorities and responsibilities.
  • Must be a committed team player prepared to work in and embrace a team-based culture.
