Job Description: Accounts Payable Analyst Summary

The Accounts Payable (AP) Analyst plays a key role in supporting the AP function through financial analysis, reporting, and process improvement initiatives. This individual possesses a strong understanding of AP practices and thrives in an environment that values innovation, flexibility, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The AP Analyst will provide critical analytical support, assist with month-end close activities, and partner with management on projects and audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency within the department.

Essential Functions
  • Provide analytical support on key metrics to drive process improvements.

  • Support the AP month-end close process, including accruals.

  • Assist the AP Manager with reporting and operational needs.

  • Identify and recommend process and technology improvements to enhance efficiency.

  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses.

  • Partner with management on special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed.

  • Post journal entries and voucher invoices.

  • Prepare 1099 forms and Unclaimed Property returns.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with team members and adapt to project needs, assisting in other areas when required.

  • Identify compliance risks and take proactive steps to eliminate or minimize them.

  • Deliver excellent customer service by maintaining a positive attitude and supporting colleagues.

  • Maintain an organized work environment with strong time-management skills.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Research and reconcile open vendor credits.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies
  • 3+ years of financial and/or data analysis experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and related functions required).

  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Strong organizational, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication with the ability to interact across all organizational levels.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passion for continuous improvement.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 3+ years of AP experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with electronic AP processing systems; SAP experience a plus.

  • General accounting experience preferred.

  • Strong mathematical proficiency and problem-solving skills.

  • Capacity to quickly learn and apply new processes, policies, and technologies.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across teams.

Additional Notes

The Accounts Payable Analyst directly supports the AP & Disbursements Manager and AP Lead. This role ensures funds are disbursed only when properly authorized, maintains files to support audits, and performs banking functions in compliance with company policy.
