Job Description

Collaborates with purchasing and maintenance support staff in the operating room environment (i.e. sterile processing, materials management, vendors and clinical engineering), provides support to all surgical services (i.e. ortho, neuro, cardiac, etc.), and as liaison for OR and SPD, collaboratively resolves instrumentation issues. Assists clinical personnel with procedure preparations and may scrub and/or participate in procedures to maintain surgical competence. Also provides product/equipment research and technical evaluation, monitors quality, and recommends repairs and replacements to reduce or eliminate instrumentation and equipment errors.

Qualifications

1. Successful completion of an accredited course for surgical technologists or military equivalent

.2.Five years of work experience with surgical procedures, equipment and supplies.

3.At least two years of experience in Orthopedic Surgery.

4.Proficient in Microsoft Office

5.Experience with PeopleSoft, PYXIS, preferred

6.Demonstrates disinfection and sterilization techniques and maintain aseptic technique.

7.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a broad spectrum of internal and external departments; building and leveraging relationships across the enterprise

.8.Experience in complex, high level, operating room cases.

9.Ability to instruct other technical staff

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

1.BLS Certification

2.Surgical Technology certification required within 1 year of hire.
