Summary:

Perform certain investment duties including trading of common stocks, ETFs and mutual funds; analyzing mutual funds; rebalancing accounts by investing and divesting cash according to investment guidelines and client needs. Perform annual OCC Reg. 9 reviews of mutual fund client accounts. Implement and maintain investment objectives/asset allocations for trust clients and model portfolios. Create and update mutual funds portfolio investment models. Interact effectively with trust department's custodian/back office operations teams to process and update securities, and/or reverse investment related transactions on trust system. Work with other members of the investment team to analyze portfolios and create presentations for trust clients. Assist in the marketing efforts of the trust department and bank. Act as liaison with outside managers. Serve as frontline contact with Bank's auditors. Lead clients and managers through setup of internet client access. Manage own work to ensure deliverables are produced in a timely and cost effective manner. Implement investment policies and strategies.

Prepare reports for the monthly Trust Investment Committee, the quarterly Trust Committee and acting as the secretary for the TIC. Prepare reports for management, portfolio managers, client meetings, administrators and marketers. Become proficient in investment related and administrative business applications. Keep all investment related files and records current and within compliance. Develop management reports that incorporate client business objectives, data capabilities, and company standards. Organize and manipulate data and records, accurately interpret and evaluate data while maintaining its integrity. Review existing documentation and assess information resources and system specifications. Conduct workflow analysis, evaluate new and existing applications, and participate in the documentation and development of enhancements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Daily



  • Execute mutual fund, money market, equity trades, and cash raising trades, as necessary.
  • Review portfolios to determine which assets to sell based on investment objectives, approved securities and tax considerations.


Monthly



  • Prepare and coordinate preparation of TIC packet and presentation as well as scan/archive TIC packet and presentation afterwards.
  • Update and maintain list of approved securities and major security holdings for ARS.
  • Update coding of trust accounts for performance reporting.


Quarterly



  • Prepare and coordinate preparation of Trust Investment packet and presentation for Trust Committee.
  • Prepare proxy voting activity report.


As Needed



  • Morningstar data retrieval and analysis, including current and historical tables and graphs.
  • Perform complex data download and analysis in support of adhoc requests.
  • Develop complex and accurate Trust Desk and Bloomberg data downloads, methodologies, and files for analyzing and presenting information.
  • Improve quality and information value of data and reports.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence for investment officers and client meetings.
  • Prepare security and client reports for investment and administrative officers.
  • Respond to client and internal requests.
  • Learn new software and investment systems and train others.
  • Serve as the liaison between the Investment department, technology teams and support teams.
  • Point out system or process problems when noticed.
  • Develop awareness of and familiarity with issues and events affecting department.
  • Organize, document, and maintain data files and reports, including all investment related files such as outside money managers, approved brokers, brokerage commissions, approved deviations, special assets, proxies voted, client files, contracts, and Trust Investment Committee meeting packets and presentations, etc.
  • Write procedures for work responsibilities.
  • Receipt and distribution of mail.
  • Review, verify vendor bills and charges, and dispute when necessary.
  • Undertake special projects as needed.
  • Contribute to team effort. Communicate regularly and effectively with team members and supervisor and fill in for others.


Qualifications:

Employment Standards:

Education/Experience:



  • Minimum Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in a similar trust operations or investments position.


Skills:



  • Knowledge of investment processes pertaining to securities, trading and investment objectives.
  • Knowledge of trust operational processes, including securities and transactions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills and experience.
  • Computer skills to include Investment Software such as Morningstar and Bloomberg Financial Terminal. Other PC software as Microsoft Office Word and Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Data management skills to develop useful and accurate reports from a variety of data sources for business planning, policy, investment management, compliance.
  • Evaluate, analyze, and interpret large volumes of data from multiple sources.
  • Data reconciliation and consolidation.
  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of business needs and how to translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, clients, and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and algebra concepts.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Responsible and accountable for assignment completion and follow-through.
  • Work independently.
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously while working in a fast paced environment.
