At SanMar, the work you do makes a difference. What's the Short Version? The Sr Maintenance Engineer leads and supports maintenance engineers across all distribution centers. This position assesses mechanical, pneumatic and electronic controls to optimize operations, material handling systems and overall building conditions in SanMar distribution centers. These services include oversight of building maintenance, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair/replace, parts management and related vendor-involved interactions. The position requires working understanding of user interfaces, electronic controls and components related to conveyance and production-related automated systems. This role works closely with the Distribution Systems Technology and Solutions teams, DC leadership, and Material Handling services vendors and integrators to ensure solutions are maximized for stability, scale and performance. This role may supervise Facilities employees in the DC.
This position is remote with regular travel to support additional sites, train new technicians and DC staff, as well as to support Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and automation rollouts. What Will You Be Doing?
- Lead, coordinate, and follow up with the Maintenance Engineers team across all DC's in maintaining the safety, repair, preventive maintenance, functionality and appearance of all MHE equipment, including rolling equipment, charging equipment, reach trucks, order pickers, pallet jacks, pump jacks, mart carts, and scrubbers.
- Coordinate, oversee and/or manage repair and maintenance work assignments performed by technicians, vendors and contractors performing maintenance.
- Maintain knowledge of equipment operations and general troubleshooting including conveyor jam or fault resolution, and all peripheral equipment including Print and Apply, Scanner Equipment, Automated storage and retrieval system, Tapers, Carton Erectors, Scale, Tote Tenders, Vertical lifts, Robot Cells, Stretch wrappers, and custom equipment that interfaces with the Material Handling System.
- Maintain normal operating conditions displayed on HMI; understand conveyor conditions and faults; provide training on procedures to start and stop each system and subsystem.
- Support and guide distribution centers in effectively managing their Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Act as primary contact for maintenance support across SanMar's network of distribution centers; designate on site personnel for support contact for all shifts.
- Navigate exacta program; generate and review reports; execute container lookup and reassignment.
- Communicate with external vendor support as needed; log problems and provide information to resolve system issues.
- Set up process for parts reorder, review recommended stock parts with vendor, set up location and system for stocking parts on site.
- Participate in FSD creation process, follow process flow as described in the FSD (both controls and software).
- Perform other duties as assigned.

What Are We Looking For?
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience with industrial equipment
- 4-6 years of relevant experience
- Experience maintaining conveyor belt systems
- May be required to complete and maintain SanMar's Lift Operator Certification every two years
- Demonstrated ability and flexibility to quickly and constructively adapt to change in the work environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, great communicator, both written and verbal
- Organized, thorough, detailed, self-sufficient problem solver
- Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume environment while meeting deadlines

- Flexible with schedule, able to provide off-hours support either remotely, or onsite, as needed
- Ability to travel between 50-60% as needed to support SanMar distribution network
What's Our Offer? Salary Range: You`ll earn between $110,000 - $145,000 annually, depending on experience. Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary. Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 152 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off. What Should You Expect? Remote: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work on computer for multiple hours with frequent interruptions. SanMar's Eastpointe office is located near Seattle, WA and our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. Quarterly travel may be required.
