We have an exciting new opportunity to join Symetra as a Sr. Infrastructure Engineer I.

About the Role

As a Sr Infrastructure Engineer 1 - Network, you'll report to and work under the general direction of the Technical Product Manager, Networking Services. You will plan and design the network infrastructure and enterprise network solutions; troubleshoot, install, implement, and administer network systems and provide TierII/Tier III support for LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN and VoIP networks. Also analyze capacity issues and develop capacity planning models. You will ensure planned testing activities are executed and develop network security guidelines. Provide general direction and lead/mentor other network engineers.

What you will do



  • Partner with Network Solution Architecture and Information Security team to create and maintain an architectural roadmap for the network.
  • Ensure compliance with architectural standards.
  • Continuously and strategically plan for network improvements aligned with architectural roadmaps looking out over a 1+ year horizon.
  • Maintain awareness of changing and evolving network technologies.
    Analyze and monitor network performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Evaluate daily, weekly, and monthly reports for exceptions, patterns and trends which may indicate current or future performance issues.
    Take full ownership of and manage all critical Incidents and problems where the network is involved.
  • Engage in, or lead, projects with a network component
  • Partner with all security stakeholders to ensure the network is appropriately secured by meeting Symetra requirements, industry best practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in network penetration testing and review results

Compensation

Salary Range: $103,300 - $172,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.

Who you are



  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science discipline with a network engineering focus or equivalent years of experience.
  • 10 years as a network engineer.
  • Comprehensive k nowledge of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF 802.11, NAC, QOS)
  • Experience with Cisco enterprise grade products (e.g., Nexus, ISR, ASA, Catalysts, TACACS+, Advanced knowledge of IOS, NX-OS, etc
  • Experience with Palo Alto products (e.g., NGFW, PA-Series, Panorama,Strata Cloud Manager). Prisma and Global Protect
  • Experience with AWS Networking (e.g. VPC, Gateways and Endpoints, Peering)
  • Familiarity with server, storage virtualization, i.e. MDS switching infrastructure, VSAN, VRF, VPN, and VMWare vSphere.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • A self-managing and self-organizer able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at both a technical and business level within all levels of the organization.
  • Experience partnering and providing oversight with a managed service provider.


Education/Experience/License/Training/Skills PREFERRED



  • Cisco Certifications: CCNA or higher
  • AWS Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect or Advanced Networking
  • Palo Alto Certifications: PCNSA or higher
