Job Description Summary |
The Nazareth University Arts Center is seeking skilled and dependable theatrical stagehands to support a wide variety of performances and events.
Stagehands will work closely with full-time staff and student crew members to ensure the safe and efficient execution of all technical production elements.
- Per diem schedule based on event needs; primarily evenings and weekends
- Fast-paced, physically active, team-oriented environment
- Work is performed in theaters, backstage, catwalks, and other performance spaces with variable lighting, sound levels, and temperatures

Essential Functions |
- Assist with load-in, setup, operation, and strike of lighting, audio, video, scenic, and rigging elements
- Operate lighting and/or sound consoles during rehearsals and live events
- Support the build, transport, assembly, and maintenance of scenic elements and staging equipment
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized backstage environment
- Supervise and mentor student crew members, as directed by full-time production staff

Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills |
- Substantial professional experience in live event or theatrical production
- Working knowledge of theatrical lighting, sound, and rigging systems
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks including twisting, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Flexibility to work variable schedules including evenings and weekends

Preferred Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills |
- Prior experience working in an educational or performing arts environment
- Familiarity with ETC lighting consoles, digital audio consoles, and stage rigging systems

Supervisory Responsibilities |
- Supervising students in tasks as dictated by full time staff.
|
Physical Requirements |
- Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (4+ hours at a time)
- Mobility: Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders
- Lifting/Carrying: Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds independently
- Manual Dexterity: Use of hands, arms, and fingers to operate tools, controls, and production equipment
- Vision/Hearing: Sufficient visual acuity and hearing to safely operate lighting, sound, and stage equipment in variable light/noise conditions
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position
