Position Summary
This position coordinates and leads resources from across UGA in support of testing and release management for the UGA Budget Management and Planning system, the UGA Financial Management System, and integrations between these systems and other administrative information systems, OneUSG Connect included. This position will serve as a Unified ERP project team member working with the University System of Georgia on their Workday implementation. This position provides team leadership and supervisory responsibilities for the Administrative Information Systems, ensuring that procedures and best practices are documented, communicated, and followed. This position designs testing and release management procedures to meet the needs of UGA clients, ensures that documented test plans are complete and robust, and confirms that tests are performed and results documented appropriately. This position communicates changes with internal and external support staff, ensures that all EITS change requirements are adhered to, and maintains an awareness of all upcoming maintenance tasks. This position conducts analyses and documents functional requirements and designs as a part of the Workday implementation team. It manages its own workload and that of its team, in cooperation with clients and AIS management, using the designated ticket and task tracking tools. This position will work evenings and/or weekends when supervising releases.

  • Experience with IT project management and/or release management processes.
  • Familiarity with ERPs and IT application systems processes.
  • General Finance and HR knowledge, as related to systems.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior IT staff.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

This position has responsibility for designing testing and release management plans and procedures to meet the needs of UGA and USG clients; ensuring that the programming solutions are developed to meet the requirements, on time, and tested appropriately to meet audit requirements. In its capacity as a Unified ERP project team member, this position designs and develops release and tenant management processes for the new Workday system in collaboration with the project team.

  • Interview and consult with clients to determine their obstacles, timelines, resources and support required for testing.
  • Define, develop and implement testing and release management plans and procedures meeting enterprise-wide needs.
  • Document testing and release management procedures and create testing training materials; work with functional and technical team members to ensure that testing procedures are well-understood and easy to follow.
  • Designs processes for testing, release and tenant management in the Workday system.
  • Learns and performs Workday configuration.

This position will coordinate and lead resources from across UGA and USG in support of application system development and operation as assigned. This will include supervisory and/or team leadership responsibilities. This position will ensure that policies, procedures, and best practices are documented, communicated, and followed.

  • Cultivate effective working relationships between IT and client community to maintain ongoing awareness of information needs and uses. Recommend technologies and propose solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Interact with user and systems management to plan and implement system policies.
  • Direct, supervise, and/or coordinate efforts of application analysts, programmers and functional team members in planning, designing, building, documenting and executing testing and release management procedures for information systems. Review completed work for accuracy and adherence to department standards.
  • Assist team members in meeting departmental and institutional goals, via timely feedback, ad hoc technical and "soft skills" training and mentorship, and mid-year and annual performance evaluations as appropriate.
  • Ensure that appropriate UGA/USG and departmental policies and procedures are followed to ensure auditability of compliance.

This position has responsibility for ongoing support of the systems maintained by AIS. This includes communication with any Managed Services or EITS units needed, ensuring that all EITS change requirements are adhered to, maintaining an awareness of all upcoming maintenance tasks, and following and maintaining all documented test plans.

  • Plan, schedule, and manage periodic operational tasks, as needed.
  • Monitor, support, and review regularly scheduled maintenance tasks on assigned systems and programs to ensure minimal interrupted functionality.
  • Ensure that test scripts are created and maintained, and that testing is documented and auditable.
  • Manage the AIS response related to testing issues, including communication between clients, developers, and vendors.

This position has responsibility for managing its personal workload and/or the workload of its team, in cooperation with clients and AIS management, using the designated ticket and task tracking tools.

  • Ensure that change requests are entered into the AIS change management system, all related information is documented in that system, and documented change management processes are followed, for auditability and future reference.
  • Prioritize and plan work in cooperation with clients, AIS management, and any appropriate third party.
  • Work with AIS Project Management team to develop detailed task lists and timelines for executing projects, including balancing priorities and dependencies across projects.
  • Assign tasks to team members, monitoring progress to completion and satisfaction of requirements. Manage workload of team members to balance efficient resource use with skills development while meeting deadlines.
