Job Description

Summary: Under the supervision of the Product Development Manager, originates manufacturing proposals and develops manufacturing plans to meet basic customer drawing requirements. Supervises manufacturing planning in creating of work instructions. Supervises tool design in making proposals and tool drawings. Supervises manufacturing projects including proposal, design for manufacturability, design for inspectability, design for cost, manufacturing support and production support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Plans and coordinates the maintenance of account records for revenue, transfer and disbursements of funds and monies in accordance with legal and professional requirements, established procedures and given directives. Assumes responsibilities of determining cash requirements and keeping interest payments to a minimum along with the complete processing of the loan paperwork.
  • Balances books and prepares monthly profit and loss statements and balance sheets according to account classifications.
  • Analyzes cost data involving labor, material, and overhead costs and records data for use by management in controlling expenditures.
  • Investigates the adequacy, accuracy, and/or distribution of charges to these costs; selects records such as production sheets, operation schedules, material records, time sheets, payrolls, etc., to calculate expenditures and to survey the causes for unusual conditions. Submits results to Controller for review and interpretation.
  • Maintains records of expenses, inventories and budget balances; audits vouchers and expense accounts.
  • Cooperates with systems and procedures in installation and maintenance of appropriate procedures, forms and records affecting general accounting, cost accounting and related activities.
  • Recommends contracting for outside accounting or clerical services to support activities.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in government accounting, rules and regulations, and reports to CFO accordingly.
  • Assumes responsibility for accuracy, completeness and safekeeping of records, petty cash fund, and for conducting all activities in conformance to prescribed company accounting and financial policies and controls.
  • Responsible for month-end reporting to public parent, variance analysis, and management of all accounting functions. Utilizes the FRx to review spending, budget and forecast information.
  • Responsible for the complete budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Works with inventory in relation to the GL at month end.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
  • Other duties with the work as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with major studies in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or the equivalent in progressively responsible experience in product design for manufacturability and inspectability in the precision metals industry in addition to the experience described thereafter.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in product engineering and manufacturing in the precision metals industry, as applied to aircraft or missile design.
  • Advanced knowledge of physics, engineering mechanics and mathematics through analytical and descriptive geometry and trigonometry; thorough understanding of specifications, such as MIL, AN, MS, NAS, ASTM, AMS, etc. Good working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and equipment.

Required Skills:

  • Language: Must have excellent communication and inter-personal skills; must have the ability to read, comprehend, present, and write (in English) correspondence, blue prints, technical journals and drawings, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions. Ability to solve problems involving many variables in various situations. Ability to analyze problems methodically, to draw realistic conclusions and to apply them in a practicable manner.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Other Abilities: Must be able to effectively multi-task and quickly change from one task to the next and back. Must be a detail orientated, self-administrator able to work quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment. High degree of accuracy and alertness to details.
