We are seeking an entry-level Engineer I to support operations and maintenance activities at our Edwardsport site. The Engineer I position is the entry level of the Engineering classification hierarchy The successful candidate will assist with troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving plant systems, including DCS, PLCs, electrical equipment, and instrumentation. This role provides hands-on exposure to plant operations while supporting senior engineers and operations staff. Key Responsibilities:
- Support and troubleshoot Distributed Control Systems (DCS), specifically GE Mark VIe.
- Assist with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Work with electrical equipment, including motor starters, electrical protective relays, and switchgear.
- Provide support for instrumentation and control systems, including installation, calibration, and maintenance.
- Participate in system performance monitoring and reliability improvements.
- Assist with documentation, testing, and compliance with site standards and safety practices.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
- Support event and process related reviews, analyze data, and support corrective measures for continual improvement programs.
- Work in an office environment, team settings, and in field environments in all seasons as required for plant and operational support.
Basic Qualifications
- Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
- Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
- Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
- Understanding of basic principles of project management.
- Experience in the utility industry.
