Responsible for managing accounts to achieve guest satisfaction while soliciting past and new business to ensure all revenue goals are achieved or exceeded. This role is accountable for soliciting new group and catering sales accounts, entertaining clients, and maintaining strong relationships with existing accounts. The position drives revenue by focusing on rooms, food and beverage, catering, and room rental, ensuring goals are met or surpassed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Solicit new and existing **group and catering accounts** to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communication. Generate room, **banquet, catering, and room rental revenue** through direct solicitation, aggressive prospecting, presentations, contract development, negotiation, and closing sales. Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel-including rooms, food and beverage, catering, and ancillary services-both orally and in writing to previous, current, and potential clients. - Manage account details to ensure all aspects of solicitation and closing are complete, documented, and effectively communicated across departments for seamless servicing of accounts.
- Develop and deliver persuasive verbal and written sales presentations tailored to prospective group and catering clients.
- Prepare information for, meet with, and entertain clients as appropriate to secure business.
- Communicate clearly and effectively-both verbally and in writing-with all hotel departments to ensure exceptional service and flawless execution for group and catering events.
- Prepare professional correspondence, maintain internal booking reports, and ensure accurate file management for all accounts.
- Actively participate in daily business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, sales training, and other sales-related meetings as required.
- Represent the hotel at trade shows, community events, and industry meetings to generate new group and catering business.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of market trends, competitor activity, and key customers within the group and catering segments.
- Adhere to attendance standards and maintain availability to meet the demands of the business.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
3+ years of past catering sales experience preferred. Hotel experience preferred. Advanced knowledge of market trends, competition, and key customers of the hotel. Able to set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate. Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi. Advanced knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivation of peers. Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
