The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a public, land-grant institution that exemplifies the "Wisconsin Idea" that the resources of the university should benefit all the citizens of the state. The Division of Continuing Studies (DCS) provides and supports high-quality continuing education, outreach, service and scholarship related to personal enrichment and

professional development. The Prison Education Initiative (PEI) is housed within DCS and supports UWs statewide in delivering degree and microcredential programs to students incarcerated in Wisconsin state prisons.

This position will serve as an office manager and provide administrative support to the PEI Director and other PEI staff. Principal duties will include scheduling and preparing for meetings and events, data entry, processing inquiries from the public, and ordering supplies for students. The duties and work styles required of this position might change slightly over time to support program growth and to accommodate changing rules and conditions within the prisons. The successful candidate will be flexible, responsive, organized, and easy to work with. This position will not involve regular direct contact with students in prison.

This position is a two year, fixed-term terminal position. Options to convert this position to renewable are dependent on continuation of funding and program support.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Assists with onboarding of new staff and other miscellaneous staff support functions
  • Sends, receives, copies, and distributes communications to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures under general supervision
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations
  • Maintains established methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to work operations according to established policies and procedures

Compensation:

Minimum: $18.36 HOURLY

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency working in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Google Docs/Sheets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with adult learners from different backgrounds
  • Experience working with Salesforce or similar customer relationship management (CRM) software

Education:

High School Diploma Preferred Minimum
