Description

Summary: The FSQA Supplier, Regulatory & Label Specialist is a seasoned quality and compliance expert responsible for ensuring food, pet food, and supplement products meet all applicable domestic and international regulatory requirements. This role provides strategic FSQA support across enterprise-wide initiatives, including new product development, product refreshes, supplier and ingredient qualification, and third-party testing oversight. Additionally, the role supports HACCP and sanitation planning for both new and reformulated products. With a strong cross-functional presence, this position collaborates closely with R&D, Procurement, Sales, and Marketing to drive innovation while maintaining regulatory alignment. The ideal candidate brings sound technical expertise, strong judgment, and a proactive mindset to support continuous improvement and safeguard market access.

  • Leads efforts in regulatory documentation management, label and packaging compliance, product marketing claims, facility licensing, and export approvals.
  • Manage end-to-end supplier, ingredient, and contract manufacturer qualification processes, including documentation review, facility audits, and product testing to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Direct third-party laboratory testing programs for nutritional analysis, shelf-life studies, stability testing, and claim substantiation; analyze and synthesize results to guide strategic decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and enhance QA documentation and PLM system data, including facility processing specifications, customer-facing documentation, allergen declarations, nutritional panels, and product claims.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Procurement, Sales, and Marketing to support product development, innovation, and go-to-market readiness while ensuring regulatory alignment.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in responding to complex customer inquiries with accurate, legally defensible, and standardized information.
  • Monitor and interpret emerging regulatory trends and evolving standards; recommend and implement updates to internal policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Ensure accuracy of all HACCP and sanitation plans for primary and value-added processing facilities for new product introductions and renovation projects.
  • Actively contribute to department continuous improvement projects.

This is an exempt position with an annualized salaryrange of $90,000 to $105,000.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance, preferably in food, pet food, or supplement industries.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of FDA, USDA, AAFCO, and international food labeling and regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency in managing HACCP and sanitation plans for new and renovated products. Experience with supplier and ingredient qualification, including facility audits and documentation review. Familiarity with third-party testing programs (e.g., nutritional analysis, shelf-life, stability, claims substantiation).
  • Documentation & System: Strong skills in regulatory documentation management and PLM systems. Ability to maintain and update specifications, allergen declarations, nutritional panels, and product claims.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with R&D, Procurement, Sales, and Marketing teams to support product development and go-to-market readiness. Experience responding to complex customer inquiries with accurate and legally defensible information.
  • Regulatory Foresight: Ability to monitor, interpret, and apply emerging regulatory trends and evolving standards. Demonstrated success in updating internal policies and procedures to maintain compliance.

Work Environment

This is an on-site position based at the Trident Support Center office in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.

In-office time takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and moderate noise. While remote, employees must provide appropriate home office space.

Physical/Mental demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time at a desk. Frequently required to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee will occasionally stand, walk, and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision for frequent use of a computer.
