| Essential Job Duties |
Join the Department of Computer Science's growing graduate team and play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of technology leaders. As the Graduate Admissions Specialist and Counselor, you will manage the full admissions cycle for one of NC State's largest graduate programs-overseeing applications, onboarding new master's and PhD students, and supporting a dynamic Accelerated Bachelors/Masters (
ABM) cohort.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of graduate admissions, including processing applications, onboarding new students, and maintaining accurate records for master's, certificate, and ABM programs.
- Utilize University supported systems to automate communications, manage applicant data, and coordinate PhD recruitment and event planning.
- Apply advanced technology solutions to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the applicant experience.
- Serve as a primary contact for prospective students-responding to inquiries, advising on admission requirements, and supporting recruitment efforts.
- Prepare and analyze application and enrollment data using Student Information System (SIS), PeopleSoft, GradWatch, and other university databases.
- Generate reports and communications for departmental leadership, tracking admissions progress, enrollment trends, and demographic data.
- Support new student enrollment and registration, ensuring a smooth transition from applicant to enrolled student.

| Other Responsibilities |
- Assist in planning departmental activities associated with graduation ceremonies and attend graduation ceremonies.
- Plan and oversee department visits for invited PhD students (with other office staff) such as Doctoral Recruiting Day, Open House and other departmental events.
- Train additional personnel to help during the peak application period.

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Demonstrated experience in admissions or higher education administration.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and strong data management skills, including handling text and CSV files.
- Experience using Student Information Systems (SIS), PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with FileMaker Pro or other distributed data systems.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
