Position Summary Performs precision machining of parts for repair, maintenance and construction of high-speed assembly and prototype equipment. Responsible for Toolroom projects from conception to final outcome. Job Elements & Position Responsibilities
- Conceptualizes, designs and develops mechanisms for Toolroom projects
- Must be able to work independently without supervision
- Repairs assembly machinery and component parts as a support to the Manufacturing Department
- Produces spare parts for assembly equipment
- Assists departments in development and production of prototype, measuring and experimental tooling
- Performs custom and repair machining of plant related equipment
- May perform mechanical drawings
- May lead and/or instruct other machinists on projects
- Trains and orients new machinists
- Acts as team/work area leader to support team concept
Required Qualifications Education
- Must possess high school diploma or equivalent GED
Experience
- Must be able to machine parts to close tolerances (+/-.0005) using conventional toolroom equipment (mill, lathe, surface grinder, etc.)
- Must be familiar with machining ferrous, non-ferrous and synthetic materials and alloys
- CNC mill/lathe operation and/or set up experience preferred
- Welding experience
Skills
- Must possess design skills.
- Must be able to work with production personnel to design and troubleshoot high speed assembly equipment and prototypes.
- Must be able to produce clear sketches of machined parts.
- Must be able to weld
- Must be capable of performing trigonometric functions
- Must be able to build/rebuild production machinery
- Must have general machinist hand tools (micrometers, calipers, indicator, edge-finder, square, scale, wrenches, screwdrivers, mallet, hammer, etc and locking toolbox)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally during shift
- Must be able to stand/walk for entire shift
In compliance withpaytransparencyrequirements, thestarting salaryrange for this role is$36/hr - $40/hr.
